REcall the Silurians were reptiles from the prehistoric age.

Wonder if V got the idea of Aliens as reptiles from Doctor Who.

It goes back a lot further than DW.

O, Yeah,
and of course Russell was totally insulated from all cultural
references to Humanoid Reptiles prior to this breakthrough.

That's an interesting theory, Doctor.

Why don't you take a year or two sabbatical from the internet and do
some research on that?

Get back to us in a couple of years with your findings......or NOT.

Who claimed he was?

I was just thinking about how Kenny Johnson might have worked certain ideas
into V.
In one scene he also included the extinction of the dinosaurs, referring to
the work of Alvarez.
In this scene they said something like 'it could have happened on Earth'
(the emerging of dinosaur like humanoids).
It was during one of the first meetings of Juliet Parish's cell.
I think that Johnson (or others around him) must have been aware of those
theories.

I don't suppose that a detailed knowledge of the precedents was
necessary in order to create Silurians or V; however I was merely
demonstrating the fact that reptilian (and other animal) humanoids
have been the substance of popular culture since ancient times.

I saw that as a kid in Philly at the National Academy of Sciences,
freaked me out a bit!

I heard there was an old comic book where scientists went back in
time, the ship landed on something, when they came back they were
lizard people.

With 'O, yeah', I meant: "Yes, I agree."

Maybe I should have added the word 'And' before the sentence that started
with 'personally'.

If it makes them more fit for survival they might.

OTOH....
I'm suddenly reminded of an SF story I read a long time ago. Forgot the
title and the author.
Scientists here on Earth discover that indeed intelligent dinosaurs lived on
Earth 65 million years ago and had developed a civilisation.
Trouble was their technology coupled with their reptilian nature (the
agressiveness) triggered their extinction. The story also suggested that
humans were on the very same path....

There's the interesting question of socialization. If lizards
want to build a civilization, they'll have to get out of the
habit of leaving their eggs in a clutch and wandering off the way
turtles do... Oddly, I remember Jurassic Park's main suggestion
that velocoraptors were fairly smart was that they hunted in
packs; do any modern lizards form packs?

Sounds like "Day of the Hunters" by Isaac Asimov. He goes beyond
their own extinction to the whole loss of "big game" of the
Cretaceous. (Now I'm thinking it could be his story called "Big
Game," or maybe he used the same idea twice.)

Not to my knowledge...
But I remember something about crocodiles... They carry their young in their
mouths sometimes. And not as dinner, but for transport and protection.

There are certain theories that say birds decended from dinosaur type
reptiles and birds certainly can have a strong collective behaviour. So
maybe the reptilian ancestors might have also. And of course us mammals are
also descendant from reptiles.

There are some interesting reads on internet, such as:
