David Eick Joins TNTs Falling Skies As New Showrunner
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

EXCLUSIVE: Former Battlestar Galactica executive producer and Caprica
co-creator/exec producer David Eick has come on board TNTs hit
alien-invasion drama Falling Skies as executive producer/showrunner.
On the show, executive produced by Steven Spielberg and starring Noah
Wyle, he replaces fellow Caprica co-creator/exec producer Remi
Aubuchon, who is leaving after serving as showrunner for the past two
seasons. Season 3 of Falling Skies kicks off with a two-hour premiere
on June 9. Eick is expected to begin assembling a writing staff to
start working on Season 4 in anticipation of pickup. (Because of
Falling Skies complicated shoot and laborious post-production process
due to elaborate special effects, the writers on the show normally get
a head start before an official green light so the gap between seasons
is not too big.)

Season 4 renewal is considered a formality as Falling Skies is TNTs
#1 scripted series in the younger demos. It premiered in 2011 and
ranked as basic cables #1 new series of the year. In its second
season, the series averaged 5.6 million viewers and ranked as basic
cables #1 summer drama of 2012 with adults 18-49 (2.6 million) and
adults 25-54 (3 million). Additionally, Falling Skies is owned by TNT,
bringing the company a lot of money from international sales as the
series is airing in some 120 countries. WME-repped Eick will serve as
executive producer alongside Spielberg, DreamWorks TVs Justin Falvey
and Darryl Frank.

So, who is the showrunner on the third season? If this new guy is just
coming aboard, the show should already be in the can (or close to it) for
this season. On the other hand, the article makes a point of claiming that
the departing showrunner was only in charge for the first two seasons.

If they say it is elabotrate, it must be true.

The hopeless New Zealand TV networks haven't even played season 2 yet.
:-( Meanwhile moronic drivel like X Factor is played within days of it's
US bradcast.

Season 1 is being re-run on one of Sky's channels, so maybe they'll
continue with seaosn 2 after that.
