it." or "Yes, they have a cosmic reset button, but they can't use it
because there's no instruction manual and they don't have enough
information to operate it properly the first, second or third times
around, so they have to do trial-and-error."
Also, I like Chloe. The show's premise and main characters are
updates of Lost In Space, so I like the Will-Penny brother-and-sister
relationship between Eli and Chloe. Or, arguably, the Greg-Marsha
seasoning added to their relationship given Eli's crush on her.

But what you apparently don't remember is the episode where they used
a time machine to travel back to ancient Egypt, and accidentally
prevented the discovery of the Stargate, but left a message in a
"bottle" so that their counterparts would come back, fix the
historical change, and then leave another message for a third
iteration of themselves, warning them not to go back to Egypt.

A good little filler episode. No idea why people might not get it, its all
there.
If any one likes a time travel mind fuck, I highly recommend a little film
called Primer.

Its a dirt cheap film ($7000) made by, IIRC, students. The time travel plot
is stunningly complex but perfectly logical. The acting is very wooden, but
the main characters are scientists, so wooden sort of works. There is
nothing amazing about the filming, sets or anything else. The is nothing
attractive about the characters either. Basically, its good enough to tell
the story. For me its a film to watch for the plot and plot alone. Oh, and I
suppose to support some made folks who put the film together, and as some
sort of inspiration to budding film makers who cant get big money!!! I don't
think the film would have significantly benefited from a huge budget. For
me, I was so absorbed in the plot that all the technical flaws became
invisible.
So, if you watch it, I don't want to hear complaints about the quality of
the film its self. No one is gonna credit that, unless one is a fan of cheap
student films and can compare them!!!!
If you are gonna watch it, be honest and watch it cold, watch it a second
time, then go hunting out the info. See, when you get to the end of the
film, you realise that nothing was what it seemed to start with and
everything before takes on new meaning. But the more you work through that,
you realise that other things must be implied, and then you need to see it
again.
This is why I am not tempting you with an IMDB link !!!!!!
Lastly, this really is a film only for those who are either interested in
complex time travel plots, or low budget films. I think hardcore Donnie
Darko and Butterfly Effect fans would appreciate Primer.

I haven't seen it so don't spoil it! But when someone writes "the proper
ending" that sort of sounds like another ending.
Perhaps it has a happy ending.

As it was put in a episode Stargate: Atlantis I saw recently, I don't

Does anyone know what purpose the Chloe character serves in the show?
She'd make a good character for the other characters to explain everything
to, like the 38 minute gate limit and how solar flares cause time travel,
but so far that's been Eli's job. She doesn't move the plot along, she's
obviously not there for T&A. She's not even the damsel in distress.
So far her only significant purpose seems to be to show how much of
pathetic loser Eli is.
Hmm... maybe she's there to draw in teenage girls who identify with
her powerlessness.

SG1 made it clear that the Stargate universe (and I don't mean SGU) operates
on an alternative timeline basis.
