This strip is a bald rip-off of Calvin & Hobbes by a talentless hack
just cynically cashing in on his own (ill-earned) fame and reputation.
Strip's a piece of shit.

But my Grandpa loves it!!

Just like C&H was a "rip-off" of Winnie The Pooh, by way of Barnaby,
right?

Actually, he's quite good at working within the admitttedly cramped
limitations of today's newspaper strip. Basset actually _draw_ ,
which is more than can be said for some of today's "cartoonists," even
ones whose gags I enjoy.
