I still have not seen the movie one and I found out the CG TV series
starts on this Friday on Cartoon Network. Do I need to see the movie
first before the TV series for its story? I did see all the movies and
the original cartoon version.
Thank you in advance. :)

Wasn't much of a movie. I don't think you'll be lost watching the
show.

The movie introduced a few new characters who may or may not keep
showing up, but the main one (who will definitely be in the TV series)
was a Jedi Padawan name Ahsoka. She is Anakin's Padawan. Otherwise I
don't think there will be any real problem having not seen the movie.

Thanks. I wonder why the movie (DVD) is coming out after the TV series
begins if the story is continuing from the movie. :(

Because you were meant to see the movie in the cinema. ;-)
I think it's only really the background story of the Clone Wars and
things like Ankain and his Padawan's growing student-teacher
relationship that are continuous. Each episode (or two/three part
story) are basically separate stories on top of that.
If you are really worried you could read the novelisation / kids'
version first. They might even show the movie again as the first few of
episodes of TV (maybe with the "deleted" scenes re-included).

Oh, we don't know what the first few episodes going to be about? That
would be good to reshow the movie on Cartoon Network.

Since the movie is so bad, I would say no. :)
It's a pilot for the tv series, so if you think you're going to follow
along with the CG series, then perhaps you're forced to seeing the
movie :)

There is probably somewhere online that tells you about the first few
episodes. The Dorling Kindersly "The Clone Wars Ultimate Guide" book
also has some pages of information and images from what is presumably
the first episode or two (it definitely wasn't in the movie).
The movie was really about introducing Anakin's Padawan Ahsoka and
Dooku's assitant Ventress. The story for the movie was rescuing Jabba's
son and the movie finished with the Huttling returned. This likely
gives a good idea of how the TV series will be done as well - a series
of self-contained stories (one episode or two/three multi-part
episodes) with the underlying Clone Wars timeline and various
relationships continuing along in the background.
I'm unlikely to see all the episodes (if any, depending on which
network gets it and the timeslot), so I'll have to wait for the season
DVDs anyway.

Really that bad? Worse than the newer trilogy movies?

It really depends on what you're expecting. It *IS* an animated show
aimed at kids (just like the movies are) although not perhaps quite as
young as the previous Ewoks and Droids animated shows. The new
character of Ahsoka is also fairly obviously aimed at attracting young
female fans too.
You also have to realise that the graphic style they were going for is
meant to look "wooden", in a similar way to Gerry Anderson's old puppet
TV shows (Thunderbirds, Joe 90, Captain Scarlet, Stingray) ... which is
different to the Starship Troopers: Roughnecks style of animation that
I was originally guessing they would go with.
Personally I think it's a great addition to the Star Wars universe ...
and even if it wasn't that good, ANYTHING is better than the AWFUL
Holiday Special!!
There is of course the live-action TV show that is still being planned
to start in a couple of years.

Oh yes, kids love stories about trade route blockades and the political
maneouverings of Palpatine. :)

Um, just because they achieved their intended look, doesn't mean it
actually looks any good...
> Personally I think it's a great addition to the Star Wars universe ...
OMG, you expressed an opinion. Well done!
Seriously though, what about it do you think makes it such a great
addition? ( I haven't seen it so I can't say either way... )

So even if it was crap you'd still think it was a good addition to the
SW universe, just because it was better than the Holiday Special?

"Kids" is a relative term - I didn't mean 5 year olds. :-)
Even having said that, the so-called "trade route blockade" and
"political maneouverings" were really minimal. They could have been
MUCH more "boring".

"Looks good" is simply a personal opinion, which is why I never said
that above ... it does look good to me, although some characters are
better done than others, and some of the voices actors for the
characters are miscast (most noticeably Ziro the Hutt and the Sean
Conery-sound-alike Separatist commander).

It still fits well with the movies, even if it is done in a very
different style. The voices of the main characters are mostly close to
the movie actors (and in a couple of cases are the movie actors).
The previous Clone Wars animated show was in a different style again,
but was still good ... and much better than I was expecting after
seeing the hopeless Samurai Jack done by the same team.
Again, as a personal opinion I would have probably preferred a Starship
Troopers: Roughnecks style of computer animation, but I'm happy with
the movie as it is.

I should have more acurately said that nothing can be as bad as the
Holiday Special.

By a long shot. I'd rather see Anakin say Jipee and Jar Jar say "Yousa
gay" for eight hours :)

So true...
