Is this Heinlien guy the same as that Expanded Universe writer
Heinlein?

He's that guy that wrote Dune. You know, that movie with Sting in it.

The man called Sting?!

Obviously before his Crow/NWO days...

Was Flair in it too?

Every Christian group which adopts the doctrine of fundamentalism,
i.e., "the bible is the revealed word of God and there is no creed,
dogma, doctrine or confession of faith other than the bible" finds
Nehemiah to be a fatal stumbling block.

In the books of Moses, the five books of the Law, "outsiders" are
alright, just outsiders, and if they would become circumcised and
follow the revelation of Moses, they are not only as good as native
born, they rank higher than bad locals. In fact, Moses married a
Cushite (Ethiopian), which created quite a sensation among his
whiter neighbors, but it was never really a theological problem.

Many years and Babylonian captivity later, Nehemiah is proclaimed
a prophet of God in that book, and in that capacity of heavenly
revelator declares that the chosen people have fallen into sin not
because of their own fault but because of the bad influence of other
cultural and racial groups they have been mixing with.

Nehemiah's simple solution is to 1- rebuild Jerusalem and the temple,
2- to banish all wives and children and relatives who are not genetic
Jews, 3- and reduce the status of all genetic Jews who cannot prove
direct ancestry to those families which went into captivity.

He expounds the genealogies of all the genetically pure chosen
people who can prove this ancestry, and are thus given the best
positions in his new sin-free world, and implores everyone to get
out there, kick ass and stomp out all the non-Jews, and absolutely
forbid any further marriages between Jewish children and outsiders.

Clearly Nehemiah is not merely a racist, but proclaims from the
pulpit that God is a racist. How then is it possible to "preach the
/full/ gospel" and to subscribe to the "entire /word of God", without
agreeing with Nehemiah? Do any later prophets disagree with Nehemiah,
or apologize for his grumpiness? Or do they remain silent and thus
agree by default? And how do you not trip over this disagreement
between Moses and Nehemiah? Moses supposedly ranks higher, but
Nehemiah comes later, thus giving the impression of God's new and
revised rules. Or is Nehemiah someone who shouldn't have been in the
bible in the first place, a "false prophet" who appears like a lamb
but inside is a ravenous wolf? And if so why is his book included
in the bible?

You've got to give credit to those hillbillys for actually reading
and believing the bible when most "civilized" church goers have not
taken the time to do more than repetitiously cover the same old worn
out familiar texts of their regular service and then lie to their
fellow men by claiming they've read the bible, when they've actually
avoided all those texts that read like tedious union contracts.

They get no credit from me - neither does any kind of racist or form of
racism!

If you excuse violent racists because they've latched onto the words of
someone in the Bible who says that's the way to be, it's the same as
present-day terrorists saying the Koran gives them the OK to kill anyone
they take exception to.

The point is - people *enjoy* pretending that their kind is superior to
other ethnic groups and enjoy behaving violently towards them, and the ones
who get the most enjoyment out of it - the extremists - will look around for
any old reason to excuse their behaviour.

I don't really say they're justified at all, but it is interesting to note
that there was a Jewish Holocaust in the post Babylonian exile era, the
only difference was that the Jews were the Nazis in that case. It would
be really fun to do a movie about that, with junior rabbis giving the
Hitler salute to Nehemiah while smartly stamping their shiny black sandal
on the floor.

Unfortunately, some would say they're the Nazis in the present conflict with
Hamas etc., and the behaviour of some of their soldiers in shooting aid
workers in the head doesn't help a bit! - but after all, there *is* a huge
epidemic around these days of blaming the victims in any and every dispute
and telling them off for defending themselves - and to add to the problem,
because it's such a mess, both sides could claim to be the victims.

Churchill was right. "Jaw jaw is better than war, war" - but even that's no
good. Have you noticed that every time there are talks in the offing that
might bring peace a little closer, the terrorists commit even worse
atrocities to wreck them. If the news media weren't so dedicated to slagging
off Israel for retaliating and defending itself they might just realise that
this is what's going on.

It's all very confusing really.

What's really confusing is that we can trace our law and
ethics to Rome and Greece and our philosophy and religion
to Israel and Judah, yet now that the world has grown up
from Barbarian tree-gropers to overfed techo-geeks in that
mind set, today we can see the modern-day Romans and Greeks
as being a bunch of overly romantic pizza makers and fish
mongers, and the Jews as being a bunch of snively and
vindictive materialists who bear no resemblance to the chosen
people of scripture.

LOL!

You're not a butcher, are you?

And after 40 years as an ethical Vegan, your words have only been surpassed
in stupid ditty by those of a young girl on an NHS training course who,
after diet came up for discussion, told me I shouldn't be Vegan because
without animal and dairy products I'd immediately die!

She did a pretty good impression of a traffic light at 'stop' when I told
her how long I'd been Vegan. Uproarious laughter broke out from the rest of
the class and she sort of visibly shrunk into herself and nearly slid off
her seat.

Later on, she demonstrated that she was even more stupid by getting thrown
off the course because, being totally computer illiterate, she panicked when
confronted by a PC and instead of listening and reading the handouts we were
given, she spent all her time gossiping and finally and blamed the I.T.
tutor for her lack of progress and threatened to damage her PC if she didn't
get more attention!

The PCs were in a Community Centre BTW and paid for with charity money.

I wonder it there are any other critics of Veganism who are as dumb as that!
It's beginning to look possible.

You've taken things the wrong way again. I was not saying that all
non-Vegans are stupid. I was saying that every so often, a really dumb
non-Vegan comes along and makes a total and complete *posterior* of
her/himself. (Is that better?)

And BTW. In case you took this the wrong was too - when I said "I don't -
but then, my brian works!" - I wasn't trying to infer that yours didn't. I
was inferring that people who subscribe to the incorrect racial and cultural
stereotypes of Greeks, Romans and Jews in the way that you describe have a
certain amount of trouble in the brain department.

And the irony in the use of "brian" forebrain was not a typo and should have
told you that the remark was somewhat tongue-in-cheek anyway.

No need for that sort of explanation, and likewise, any sort of
strife or controversy makes perfect fodder for a few days worth
of badgering... pardon me, I need to avoid such exploitative
animal nomenclature...

Many years ago I was myself involved in the Zen-macrobiotic stuff
and of course there was a huge overlap between that and ovo-lactos
and ethicals and all the other sorts, I was only into it for health
reasons, but it went beyond hysterical when young blonde women would
wear belts and shoes of synthetic materials having no clue what
industrial processes may have been involved in those manufactures
which may have been far more destructive to environment and wildlife
than simply slaughtering a cow raised for that purpose and poisoning
the earth with dumped out dyes and tanning chemicals. We're all God's
fools here and just can't seem to get anything right. I can imagine
a colony of Hippies starting a farm to manufacture rope for sandals
inadvertently tipping the balance of the local ecosystem by removing
from their cleared land the only source of some rare herb upon which
some rare species of mouse depends, and some predator animal which
depended on those mice now must look elsewhere, and robs another
species of its food source, and before you know it one thing leads
to another and all the whales die off as a result.

The odd Hippy colony making an ecological mistake like that pales into
insignificance when compared to the huge amount of damage done to the planet
by conventional farming, industry in general and the oil industry in
particular, and its protégés. How many dead in Iraq so far? Has Vietnam's
ecology fully recovered yet?

Because they seem a little odd it doesn't mean Hippies are daft. The ones
I've known were all highly intelligent and did their homework on every
aspect of their diet, ethics, and, if they were growing their own food,
agriculture, and of the few I'm still in touch with, there are four
teachers, a doctor, an engineer and a couple of scientists.

And there are far more rare and unique plants and herbs being wiped out by
loggers and other commercial interests in the rain forests than by all the
alternative-lifestyle colonies put together, so-much-so that there are
special teams of scientist in the rain forests right now searching for and
testing every unknown plant in sight to see if it may contain a new drug to
cure some terrible disease or other before the various money-grubbing
vandals destroy the lot!

And when the forests are cleared for cattle, which lethally unhealthy
burgers do the cattle end up in? - and where does the timber go?

And shoes? Here's where I get mine . . .

http://www.vegetarian-shoes.co.uk/

Do a Google on "vegetarian shoes". There are plenty of other companies doing
them.

I used to buy cheap synthetic shoes from the shops in the high street for
about £12 a pair but with the amount of walking I do, they'd only last a
month or two. Those are the kind of synthetic shoes which are bad for the
environment; the ones with built-in obsolescence.

The first footwear I bought from Vegetarian Shoes was a pair of synthetic
Doctor Martin's short boots. The demand for these comes mainly from the US
BTW. They lasted me about three years at a rate of around 25 miles walking a
week at least - about half over hilly and rough terrain.

Vegetarian Shoes' footwear is so good I don't mind in the least having to go
down to Brighton every so often.

Unfortunately though, after DM moved its production from the UK to China,
they stopped stocking DMs because of the sweatshop conditions over there and
China's disgusting human rights record which most countries and companies
are busily covering up for and forgetting about now because by making their
own people redundant and switching production to China they can make an
absolute fortune.

And no, this doesn't mean that European workers are a bunch of nasty lefties
who are overpaid. It means that Chinese workers are paid a pittance and are
more-or-less treated like slaves!

There're no morals in business - except in that small shop in Brighton!

Yup. Like one enormous snob called John Wood for instance and Phillip Brown,
who claimed he was an animal-lover but was scared of farm animals and ran
for his life away from a perfectly friendly horse in a field once, which of
course, ran after him! :o) It was a huge, beautiful black stallion, but it
was perfectly tame, especially after I gave it an apple.

The farmer had probably put it in the field with the footpath across it to
deliberately scare walkers. A few farmers were that bloody-minded in those
days.

And we had quite a few young ladies who used to turn up at Hunt Saboteurs'
demos wearing long flowing dresses and high heels, where you'd have to go
yomping across muddy fields and climbing fences!

They were all very committed though and had done their homework sufficiently
well to verbally defend themselves from their detractors.

We also had John Strettle, a teacher and a brilliant bloke who knew so much
about farming, the economics of food production, the environment, nutrition
and the health risks of what was then called a normal diet - all of which
have since been accepted, who sometimes used to have farmers and other
detractors with their faces cherry-red in fits of rage when they tried to
argue the toss at our regular yearly demos outside the Smithfield Show etc.,
just by politely discussing the issues and correcting them when they came
out with the inevitable crap!

There's a class of idiot who often decide that, because they disapprove of
someone even for a very minor reason, for instance because of their
appearance or diet, that the person in question is totally useless in all
things, has no abilities or accomplishments, knows absolutely nothing and
can't possibly be right. Sometimes they show their disapproval by asking
pointed questions - and often come very much unstuck!

I'm sure you have... you should read some of the propaganda
the Soviets used to publish, some of that was even funnier.
It's about eight years since Bill Clinton launched Operation
Desert Fox, beginning the attacks on Iraq. That comes to:
100,000/(8*12), an average of 1024 people per month, or one
kiloperson...
Using some common sense rather than the Rambo-Imagination,
single events involving as few as ten or twenty killed are
the big news for a month at a time, simple arithmetic will
tell you that's baloney.
Iraq has a population of about 27 million and a normal death
rate of 5.37/1000 = about 144,000 die annually from old age,
disease, accident, about 12,000 a month. In a country where
the average monthly death rate is 12,000 and there's an
extra 1024 combat fatalities each month, the bodies would
be stacked up like logs in a lumber yard waiting to get
processed. Compare that to holocaust era Germany, when the
Nazis controlled a population of possibly six times that,
or roughly 150,000,000 souls in Nazi controlled areas,
and they were killing Jews at a rate six times that, or
about 6000 a month... heck, the bodies were stacking up so
fast they didn't know what to do with them. When you hear
in the news from Iraq about a dozen here and a dozen there
every couple of days or weeks it just doesn't add up to 1024
a month.

the US must withdraw completely within 3 months from both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Nothing you do there will ever be recognised or accepted by the locals.

Iraq will split into separate countries with people warring against each
other until they get tired of fighting each other and decide to make peace.

If you are in any country where the local population subjects you to daily
terror attacks, you can't win. You are the problem. The only thing you can
do is withdraw. You can only remain there if you are welcome. Since you are
not, you must get out immediately, as in today.

Both Afghanistan and Iraq were monumental mistakes. You never ought to have
invaded either country.

You won shit. You won nothing. You won no war.

You defeated the Taleban, huh?

Bull fucking shit. They are still active and taking allied lives.

GET OUT! TODAY!

stop kidding yourselves.

that's exactly what the US is looking for in Iraq and not getting it, nor
will you ever get it.

therefore you are defeated. not by military might, but by popular opinion.

you have to ask yourself a very simple question:

why do people attack American soldiers when they know that they will almost
surely be killed?

because they don't care anymore about their lives. they hate you so much and
want you out so badly, that they'd rather die than give up their freedom.

you have not given them freedom.

you take it away.

Amerikaner raus!
