1995 Power of the Force GREY Darth Vader MOMC
Item #560815808

Currently $3,050.00 (reserve not yet met) First bid $0.01

Bidding closed with reserve NOT MET. This is an insane price for a figure only
5-6 years old. I wonder if the seller will sell at the close price or just
enjoy the buzz and keep it?

$3000?????

would catorgorize this figure with the likes of a POTF85 Anakin for price
wise.

Seems an awful waste of $3G's for a figure..........my opinion.

What you think the reserve was/ is?

I have two of these figures that I picked up from Japan about 4 years ago. And
I would be more than happy to sell one of these for $3k :) This amount of money
for a manufacturing variation is insane. But... to each his own.

My suspicion is that the reserve was set extremely high. I'd be willing to
wager the figure was put up to see how much people would be willing to bid on
it and *not* to actually sell it. : )

Doesn't the guy have to pay eBay selling fees on it even if it doesn't meet the
reserve? If so, OUCH!

Holy...... $3,050 and the reserve wasn't met??? My God what have we
become? I mean plastic, molded into our favorite star wars character, fully
detailed, with accessories, in this case a Hasbro/Kenner screw-up and viola
$3,050. How can you even brag that you have maybe the only one in existence
when you have to tell them you paid more than $3,050 for a $6 figure that
really no-one knows about.

I bet that thing is really a girl magnet. Hey, wanna see my 3 3/4" Grey
Vader???

Well, maybe if I had that much to spend on one figure and I was a variation
collector I would understand. Now I see why I'm going to have shell out
$40-50 for a swimming Jar Jar (not).

I'd sell it to the highest bidder for $3000. The things he could do with
the cash....better than looking at a rather ugly looking grey Vader.

The reserve was probably a joke, then. That figure isn't worth $3k!

Maybe not to you. :)

This is-- without a doubt-- *THE* rare POTF2 figure. It's a first wave
figure. It's got a long saber. It's Darth Vader. And I can count
the number I've heard to exist on one hand if I lost a few digits in a
freak shop class accident.

I wouldn't pay $3k for it, but is it rare enough to justify that kind of
price? You bet. If a SS/LT figure is $300+ for a fakable and *lame*
variation, then a figure in a different color-- and that is
significantly noticable-- is easily worth much, much more.

If these were remotely available in the USA, then yeah, $1000 is
ludicrous. But we're dealing with a significant change of *the* most
recognizable Star Wars character (nobody argue, you know I'm right :) in
one of the most collected toy lines in a hobby where a lot of the fans
have some real money to throw around.

The reserve *might* be a joke. I agree that it is a bit high, but then
again, a man and his stash can be hard to separate. For some of us,
our toys may as well be our children. :) (Sad, yes, but I'll be damned
if I ever sell my Targetmaster Hot Rod or my Fisher Price Alpha Star
alien prototypes.)

The offer was a bit on the rhetorical side (note the little :) ) Basically,
because I do not feel that this figure is worth $3k. (IMO) You also need to
read what I wrote directly after my "offer" (little things like, reading the
entire post for content, tend to help from time to time :)

>I think you liar who have none.

Who in the hell are you, to question my integrity ?!?!? I could care less what
you think I do/do not have. Trust me, I have no need to lie about anything in
my collection. (Feel free to contact anyone from "toysrgus.com" if you need
some sort of validation.)

Ok, fair enough.....I will give YOU, a very special price....since you have
been so nice, and complimentary towards me. For such a swell guy like yourself:
I want $6,000usd for mine. If you don't like it, tough shit...go find another
one cry-baby.

ps. Oh, by the way...next time, learn some manners. (and try to NOT call people
names simply because they refuse to sell you something.)

I think a lot of that can be chalked up to language barrier judging by the jp
affix on the guy's e-mail address.

I read whole post. I guess my english made me think you brag about 2 & would be
happy to sell one. Guess you not as happy as you seem. I think you be happier
with $3000 to buy more stuff to brag about & still have one in collection.
Oh, I guess you need to have one first to get $3000.
If you know everything about piece, you know it not a manufacturing variation at
all or first found in Japan.
ahhh why waste time, enjoy your 2 figures not $6000
seem you need "validation" by using gus name

As I suspected this WAS a language problem and now we have two collectors who
might otherwise get along great yelling at each other. Come on guys, there's
few of us left these days as it is.
Bill, any chance you could swallow your pride, admit you misunderstood and
offer your apology to Ken? I for one would really respect that. You can even
do it by e-mail if you don't want to publicly.

What part of "This amount of money
for a manufacturing variation is insane" did you not understand ?? Obviously
your english is good enough to cast insults.

>Oh, I guess you need to have one first to get $3000.

Again....I have no need to brag about anything in my collection, and I already
made YOU (not anyone else) quite a fair "offer"... :)

>If you know everything about piece, you know it not a manufacturing variation

Golly gee... do you think that perhaps I bought mine during a toy show I was
attending that was held in TOKYO JAPAN ?!?!?

>ahhh why waste time, enjoy your 2 figures not $6000

No, No, No... you have it all wrong: I was offering YOU (not anyone else), ONE
of my figures for $6,000. Since you have been so nice to me, I felt it was the
least I could do :)

>seem you need "validation" by using gus name

Actually, I tend to respond a little "hot" to people who either call me names
(ie. "liar") or questions my integrity. To people such as yourself, who have
nothing better to do than to run your mouth, I offered you the worst thing
possible: multiple references, from some of the most well known collectors
around.

Again... sorry if you didn't get the toy that you wanted. But one day when you
grow up, you will understand that "money can't get you everything"

I would be more than happy to apologize to Ken for any misunderstandings;
BUT... there were none. I think that the word/term "liar" is pretty clear.
