1) I was unaware that Governor Perry set the sentences of convicted
criminals.

2) How so?  In the FBI statistics, white Hispanics are treated as white
(and black Hispanics as black).  Yet blacks commit more murders than
whites (in cases where the race of the perp is known).

Since 1982 (through 2009) 165 blacks, 207 whites, 73 Hispanics and 2
"others" were executed by Texas.

It looks like, in Texas, they execute more white offenders than black
ones even though blacks commit murder in greater numbers nationally.
