The Bronx missing, please advise

Today I awoke to Phil Matier on the the radio assuring me that
"upstate New York" was "everything north of Manhattan." I knew that
they were thinking of replacing Yankee Stadium, but I didn't know
things had gone *that* far.

you're not really upstate if you can't see the Canadian border from your
house.

Actually, from where I live on Long Island, Upstate is everything
north of midtown...

I have two different friends who have assured me that Upstate begins
at 14th Street.

What sort of lighting do you need to see the Canadian border?
Would X-Ray vision help?
