I am, for the second time, doing my modified version--50,000 words from all serious writing projects combined, rather than as the draft of a new novel. As it happens, I have three different books I should be working on‹the third edition of my first (nonfiction) book, the partly written sequel to Salamander, and a new book on legal systems very different from ours. I also count blog posts, since my blog posts are essays, not gossip.
Two days in I'm ahead, mostly from two draft chapters for my third edition. I don't expect the new chapters to add up to 50,000 words, although they might, and things may get harder when that project is done.

I'm not doing it formally but I'm using the buzz to help me finish a couple of projects. One a short novel for younger readers the other a novel I need to revise for young teens.
I actually started on Wednesday (to be perverse )and wrote 3k Wednesday and Thursday and 2k yesterday and today. I have to prep for a job interview so I will up the word count when that's over.\

I've managed 8,100 new words so far, but I have 10k in the pot already on this project, so I'm not sticking to the rules exactly. I am only counting words written in November, however, so I need to get the project to 60k words by the end of the month..
I won't have any time for writing over this weekend, however as I have a Northwrite meeting here on Sunday and today has been a prep day.

And next weekend is Novacon in Nottingham, so I'll be away from Friday morning to Sunday night. That's already reduced my 30 days to 25.

I got just at 1500 words today, so I'm only half a day behind. Trying to write in a room full of running and screaming children may be counterproductive.
I'm almost certain it is. I remember, however, that Asimov could do that. Jacey, I'm suffering from production envy.
I'm on permanent Nanowrimo. Currently writing three novels in parallel. Have to finish them not within a month, but until the end of the year would be nice :-)

That's pretty much what I'm doing, and have for years. I call it NaNoCheaMo.
Hoping to finish the current story, will count new words added to that (so I'll lose some on revision, but whatever) and then if I still have time, I do want to start a novel. Honestly if I get anything done I'll consider myself as having "won".

We used to have a poster here who would drop numbers like that into the conversation. 2k, 3k. It always got me going. Please twist the knife more often, it might just get me going.
I've written nothing for 2 years until last week when I extruded 2.5k about a holiday destination. But, big buts, I've bought a keyboard with a functioning u. On the last walk in La Taha past the place where the lady in the suspended novel sits straddling the threshold, we were accompanied by a pair of dogs which appeared from nowhere. Thresholds, lady, dogs, I think she's trying to tell me something. So, for nanowrimo I need to bone up on Cervantes and Shakespeare and then plan. Or maybe I'll just wing it. We'll see.
Lytton Strachey with piles on a mule, how have I resisted all this time?

Okay, well, I average about 1.2k per hour. How's that?

I managed 1.2K Saturday, but e-mail boojums took me out of the running for yesterday. I'll try to get back on step tonight after work. NANOWRIMO group meeting.
