Heh. My sister-in-law has a piece of art (bought at a con many
decades ago) showing one of the earlier Mars landers. First
panel shows the lander's first image: a couple of huge circles
with dots in the middle. Second panel shows a critter with great
big eyes standing atop the lander, bending down to stare into the
lens.

Same sister-in-law once made a piece of art herself, a
needlepoint tapestry. It's about a foot high and thirty feet
long. At one end is an image of the Earth, at the other end is
the Moon. Their size and the distance between them are to scale
(that is, thirty Earth diameters). Midway between them, not to
scale, is Apollo 13.

The last batch of photos from Curiosity have a couple of black and white ones that have (if you've got a great imagination) a couple rocks that look a bit like segmented vertebra. I showed my husband and he's all, "Seriously, Julie?"

Well, no.

But some people have no sense of fun. ;-)
