For behold our God, whom we worship, is able to save us from the furnace of
burning fire, and to deliver us out of thy hands, O king.
But if he will not, be it known to thee, O king, that we will not worship
thy gods, nor adore the golden statue which thou hast set up.
Daniel 3:17-18

Wake up. America is choking on its own vomit. The U.S. political
circus is totally irrelevant. Bush is bad for America and so is Kerry and
90 percent of Americans are just too stupid to realize it. Do not attempt
to pretend otherwise.

Do not try to pretend you know what you are doing.

Do not try to pretend anyone with any conscience at all could be
involved in any of it.

Do not try to pretend you "had the solution" first. You don't have any
solution yet.

Sand Castles and Fiddler Crabs

Sand castles and fiddler crabs and families at the beach
On a dog-eared page in a poetry book just out of reach
And naught else to ponder this frosty winter day
To warm the heart or ease the mind in any way

Oh, but you had a pail and shovel when you were just a child
Starfish and seashells all in my memory are filed
Your parents called a doctor when you stepped on a nail
He stopped the blood and cleaned wound to spare your life so frail

I read that you recovered, that was long ago
You must be married now so lovely you should know
Sand castles and fiddler crabs and families at the beach
Your own children soon will play there as you give a kiss to each

I am ready now to face the dreary winter day
It's time to tend the hungry cattle, they surely need their hay

Yeah, what would he know ...

... Hey, wait a minute, that is my poem!

Oh well. The vicissitudes of Usenet.

By the way, shouldn't that be "belled" cat as in one the mice need no longer fear?

This is not to say you have no vast store of credibility, only that you will perhaps need to direct me to it.

I believe I speak for all of my multiple personalities when I say that we applaud your decision to join the effort to make the
poetry discussion group a place for the discussion of poetry again as it should be. Eliminating Charles Lysaght from the group
would certainly help achieve that goal. I believe all my mulltiple personalities would help you with that. There are two important
points to remember in that regard:
1) He will likely never "leave."
2) Although some controversy remains as to their full extent there are in fact in the United States certain rights to free speech
guaranteed by the first amendment.

Bearing those two points in mind consider our approach to the problem, which is to illustrrate the need for appropriate
settings. It is perhaps Mr. Lysaght's failure to establish appropriate settings for his "art" that has earned him such a terrible
reputation. Because there is no depth of setting, no character development, no effort to support or develop any social values most
readers naturally assume the man is in reality what appears in his "art." Pardon the lax use of the term.

Before I came to this group many of Lysaght's opponents had the same problem, no appropriate setting. There was a "Bolduc" who
was paarticularly offensive in that regard. It was only after the discussion of setting by myself, my friends and my multiple
personalities that better attitudes developed.

Finally, let me add that real poets in the group should take care not to injure each other more than their true opponents as
you perhaps did here. "Sandcastles and Fiddler Crabs" will never be compared to Shelley's "Adonais," but it does not "suck on
Charles," and you really dismiss yourself as a critic with such a thoughtless comment.

Good day sir and may you better know who are your friends in the future.

True, being the masochist he's proven himself to be.

Again true, and the second says I have "the right to bare duct tape".

All understood with a slight "What?". Reflecting: The replier's comment
"What the fuck ..." was not an attack aimed toward the writer but toward
the critic. The writer's (friend?) "belled" comment was an attack aimed
toward the replier (friend?) and the replier saw it fit to shot back
with "sucked" and will do so again if the writer does so again.

So, there you have it. No apology for said "thoughtless comment".

"Friends don't shot friends" i.e., "'Nuff said." 'Nuff said again.

Sorry dude, I don't understand your nickname. Maybe if I did I wouldn't think you need a new one. Meanwhile I do sorta think
you need a new one.

Right back at ya, dude. :-) <-- Note the smiley-thingy.

Yeah, I could change my name but why should I? It is what I've been
called for over forty years (except for the "Barbara's" part -- that's
only been for about the last thirty years). All my family and friends
call me "Cat". Hell, even my employer calls me "Cat".

Around my neighborhood, nicknames are a very common thing (as I'm sure
it is elsewhere). For instance, I have one friend called "Shotgun"
(because he shot off his little toe while on a hunting trip -- no lie)
and another one called "Doobie" because he's ... well ... a stoner.

I call myself "Barbara's Cat" because that's who I am -- Barbara's Cat.

Besides, the name also allows for some to be caught off their guard.

Suit yourself, or the wind, or whatever. It's neither here nor there, but Barbara Streisand's initials are "BS." It never
bothered CBS much. I am making about as much sense as most nicknames do. Look who's talking, "Sick Mind." Be careful, you should
know more about meanings or you might mean something stupid inadvertently one day.

Like I said: "for over forty years".
So, I've pretty much heard it/them all
and have handled it/them all in kind.
