Realizing I might have come on too strong, just popping in out of the
ether et. all, I thought it might be useful to re-introduce myself.
My sock-puppet here is (tilde)Terran. I posted on rap and was in on
the inception of aapc (to the consternation of my fellow rappers) in
the mid to late nineties and briefly again in the 0's (as Xmasghost).
At that time both boards but esp. rap (aapc being the more dignified
anglofied offshoot) were raw vibrant virtual places for virtual poets
and artists to interact, insult and critique each other - virtually.
MCR. gatherings were common. Rap had even gained a reputation in lit.
circles beyond the net. It wasn't all Camelot but it was alive and
thriving. Most of the poets and writers of that era have moved on or
shuffled off (as in "that mortal coil"). You are our descendants.
When I happened to look in this time, I was pleased to see people
posting and critiquing poetry again, without the incessant barrage of
off-topic white noise and spam.
Two thoughts.
First, some of you need to develop thicker skins. Critics are giving
you a gift, whatever their motives, be they animus, ego, jealousy,
pettiness or spite. Learn to see them in this way and you can learn
from anyone. Give up the newbie poet belief that every jot of your
poesy is the inspired word of some higher deity. It may be, but
likely is not. Read the crits. Thank the critics. Use what you can.
Ignore the rest. Make shrines to your verse, vanity publish, paper
your bedrooms with it if you want, then look back in five or ten years
and see who was right. Oft times, it was the critics, I'm sorry to
say.
Second, give up any notion that poetry is some channeled muse. Only
Coleridge was stoned enough to believe this (though they claimed
otherwise, even the romantics penned drafts). Poetry isn't written,
it's re-written. Make it as good as it can be. Better for you to
think like Michelangelo, that the poem is there, all you have to do is
chip off the useless bits.
If you guys/gals keep this up, you might just attract some poets back
to this board to write with you and look at your work. It will make
you better and you might just learn something (a thought...)
Keep up the reformation and rap may yet rise again!
~Terran
If the Reformation had had to put up with the constant (and uneraseable)
effluvia of dung monkeys like Will, it would have ended up just being
"The Malformation" and a speed bump on the way to the Age of Ignominious
Sludge. As long as he holds any sway here at all, with his lack of
critical sensibilities, and tendency to praise any "poem" that vaguely
recalls a comic book he read in the bathroom twenty years ago, this
arena might as well be selling rocks to the moon. His muse is the winged
rock nymph on a beer bottle...

This *will* thing you reference has no sway here at all.

He never will have any sway here at all.
Just ignore him.
Remember alphapigdog? He made a lot of noise, and was fun to chew on for a

Not to disagree (and you might - in some ways - be correct) but reality
speaks for itself: this ng appears to mainly be a Dockery vanity
project, with postings of his endlessly dull adventures in some poetic
wasteland halfway up his own ass. In turn, he attracts other lowlifes
and know nothings, and skews the group's efforts at "Reformation" by
pretending to a poetic critical sensibility which he is bereft of:
giving "five stars" and "an adolescent wowee" to any one who posts the
sub-moronic material he feels most at ease with. I could ignore him (I
usually do, almost 100% of the time) and you can ignore him, but these
others (dead to language) won't, and the frequency (and worthlessness)
of his postings will both attract more poetically pointless flies to the
turd he is, and - more importantly to others - create an aesthetically
barren environment for any one who might be sensitive to such things: so
the tendency - despite our best efforts (stiff upper lip, etc.) - will
be to keep away any truly interesting creative minds, and to attract
tyhe mediocre: Will's natural ecology.
dmh
Well, I /will/ be posting my poetry, comments and everything in between
here, for as long as I'm able - just as you or anyone else is free to do.
Love it or hate it, this will not change... I promise you that.
So whine on. Or not.

Will Dockery factsheet
http://www.wikinfo.org/index.php/Will_Dockery
Don't be so hard on yourself, Dale... after all, I proclaimed /you/ the best
Usenet poet recently, although it's quite true that many here would consider
your poetry sub-moronic... not a poem, even... heh.
Here's a bit of that praise for your sub-moronic poetry of yours, as you
call it:
> I'm not denying that you can "entertain" an
> audience with this
stuff, especially if you walk the walk and drawl the drawl to a musical
backing and sell yourself (as you do quite astutely) to the kind of folks
who still fall for Beat-
> generation posturings.
I'm well aware of the anti-Beat sediments with a few of the regulars here,
and I'm also well aware that the Beats are the main group who brought
/entertainment/ back to poetry... which was the main reason for it to exist
in the first place.
As I've written before, two poets from these newsgroups retain this
entertaiment element, while still writing superior poetry, Stuart Leichter
and Dale Houstman... although both have either vanished or stopped writing -
Houstman cascades surreal images ("sit on the street corner and paint with
words") though a stencil cutout of memory and experience, and dream
(hallucination)... he's telling something important but makes the finding
out whatever it is an interesting trip for the reader:
----
Her Lark Colony
The blue stamp

& her red tuba abandoned
by the army you pass
upon the trench's staircase
is a collector's item.
I'll not wake you abruptly
by folding her almond-white scarf
like her almond-white voice
in this absinthe-tasting century.
The white nuns
behind white pylons.
Naked white nuns,
cake white nuns,
salt white nuns
with salt white guns.
I'll not wake you abruptly
by folding her almond-white scarf
like her almond-white voice
in this absinthe-tasting century
which is a collector's item.

----
Dale's work was better than the poetry of those you trumpet here will ever
write, since all of the work of Hammes and Evans is boring sing-song junk,
chopped-up-prose, or, in all of Hammes' current output, worthlessly racist
homophobic limerick crap.
From my review of "Her Lark Colony", a few years ago:
"...The white-on-white this thread has turned to reminds me of the paleness
of your poem "Her Lark Colony", with the vivid flashes of primary color
[red, blue, et cetera] that flash in violently and unexpectedly...
astounding mix of complexity and simplicity, and wound tight like a crystal
wristwatch. This poem always plays off like a silent black and white film
montage, with little sparks of color, like the colors on Travis Bickle's wet
windshield, and read aloud cries for a saxophone and stripped down stand up
bass..."
Stuart's poetry is more difficult to pin down /why/ it kicks ass, but it
does. What comes to mind is the legendary comment William Burroughs made to
Kerouac as JK handed him page after page of rapidfire typewriting (probably
while WB was in exile in Mexico City after accidentally killing his wife in
New Orleans in a William Tell act gone wrong, but I'd have to look it up.
BTW, there's several beautiful essays on Burroughs over at
alt.books.beatgeneration which has really revived my interest in Old Bull
Lee... including a long review of the hard to find novel "Queer", one WB
I've never had a chance to read, in fact never seen it for sale in these
parts, for probably obvious reasons): "I don't really /think/ about
[Kerouac's writing] it, I just rather /like/ it, that's all...
sniff..."
Romance in Country

you'll only love me Lucky for

Rayette was working Denny's mopping floors
vacuumed mudroom floormats straightened them
took out trash and freshened up the rest rooms
we met I went there cause they featured entrees
chicken cordon bleu--French stuff
and boocoo freshly brewed coffee that
Kept me up all night watching cotton balls
between her toes at the place we shared
where she also mopped and vacuumed
scrubbed the sink and toilet rim took out
the trash plus dusted did the dishes

So I go What and she goes
You won't ever leave me will you all the time we talk
but I keep going back
they're her CDs her stereo her TV set

-Stuart Leichter
The combination of elements from both these poems could produce the perfect
poem, in my opinion.
>What you don't get is that nobody else here
What few people still here are dominated by an even smaller group dedicated
to driving away newcomers, as we know.
> /wants/ that
>kind of audience -- certainly, I don't.
What /you/ don't get is that nobody is obligated to /want/ that kind of
audience.
> and then grew out of it.
Maybe your grown-up, pompous pretentions, which is the cause of your
wordy, stilted and boringly obscure poetry, no doubt, is just a phase for
/you/, and in a year or two you'll be interested in writing something
readable and interesting... or not.
Right now, your target audience of two or three doesn't even seem to
notice... although after this statement maybe they'll feel obligated.
> Perhaps the only interesting thing about
> "Will Dockery", from my point of view at least
Exactly... and there's plenty of room here for any number of
viewpoints, and styles of poetry.

If you don't like reading about Will Dockery, why are you writing
about him? Why do keep trying, as here, to turn completely unrelated
threads into threads about him?
It sounds to me like you just enjoy bitching, and that you like
writing about Will Dockery because it gives you more opportunity to
bitch.
The Revolution had to put up with the constant effluvia of Georgians
and their ineradicable ownership of everything they thought they saw,
too.
Today, we call them "Democrats," and elect them to office, where
they happily give orders to other servants, in between driving drunk
into rivers with other people's daughters, populating glory-holes in
airport latrines, marrying their boyfriends, and giving your tax
dollars to madams and their retinues.
Mr. Dockery merely wants his Fair Share of the Hole Glory, but is so
stupid he insists we "vote" for his stagger-videos rather than voting
for /him/.
(We keep telling him we already /have/ a comic-book for a President;
if he wants anything more, he'll hafta run /himself/.)
P.S.: If only poetry /did/ remind Mr. Dockery of a comic book he read
twenty years ago.
Unfortunately, it usually reminds him of a comic book he read last
week.

The Pauli Girls have been Muses most glorious for /decades/.
There was an old Georgian whose shit

So Holy he ate
Every bit off his plate
As he polished the spoon with his spit.
I don't like you, either.
Hey, it's orders of magnitude better than writing about George Dance.
(Not to mention a damsight funnier.)
snore...This sort of "stuff"/empty political yodeling in a cardboard
canyon/cherry picking in an apple orchard of cod-information was old a
long time ago. for each of these "Democrats" you attribute various
"virtues" to, a "Republican" (or a Monarchist, or a Buddhist, or a
Beside-The-Pointillist, etc) could be dug up to populate another -
equally inane - rollcall of personal and public malfeasance. And even
some of your attributions don't make sense: that latrine dancer was a
Republican, and it appears Republicans are not adverse to grabbing and
regifting, if only to a different crowd of arrogants. The sooner we stop
believing in these tiny dichotomies/don't give a fig leaves (which cover
nary an acre of what actually constitutes the spectrum of social
experiments) the sooner we might actually trip over solutions.

Criticism
George Dance is a politician and political activist in
Ontario, Canada. He has been a member of the [[Libertarian Party of
Canada]] and the Ontario Libertarian Party since the mid-1970s, and has
served as interim leader of both parties.
Dance listed his occupation as stock clerk, layout artist, freelance
typesetter and office manager on various occasions between 1979 and 1993.
He has long published The Bulletin, the Ontario Libertarian Party's
newsletter.
Like many others in his party, Dance has called for increased privatization
and is an opponent of unionization. He is an opponent of anarchism, and
describes himself as a "proper-government libertarian" (i.e., supporting a
government and recognizes and respects individual liberties). Dance is also
an opponent of restrictions on public smoking.
Dance became leader of the Libertarian Party in 1991, after former leader
Stanislaw Tyminski left Canada to form Party X in Poland. He
held this position until May 1993, when Hilliard Cox was chosen to
replace him. Dance also served as interim leader of the federal party from
1995 to 1996. Note. Liberatarians are different from Liberals though
the name is similar.
Dance has served on the executive of the Ontario Libertarian Party since
1985, and is currently its chairman. He became the party's leader following
the resignation of John Shadbolt on June 9, 1995, and held the
position until Sam Apelbaum was selected at a delegated convention in
late 1996. As party leader, Dance contested a 1996 by-election in [[York
South]].
In 1992, Dance indicated that his party might seek an electoral alliance
with the Freedom Party of Ontario. The Freedom Party soon rejected this
suggestion.

Good post, and good ideals; but I'm afraid that, if you think that
either rap or aapc to return to their glory days, you're engaging in
wishful thinking. I've posted poetry here since March of 07, but I
really don't have much of an urge to at present. My problem, perhaps,
is that I don't see the criticism one gets here (most of which I've
found to be along the lines of "You eat shit," "You're a pedophile,"
"Your mother sucks Dockery's cock," etc., to be particularly helpful.

Relatively new, just now picking up speed as an alternative to Wikipedia,
with a policy of whatever WP is not, they are... including a much wider
range for information, and more obscure stuff deleted by WP for lack of
notability.
Hope you'll join up and add to the database.

Well, sure, but again, that's one of the purposes of Wikinfo, a wider range
of notability...
> But thanks for the plug. Some of the readers who use the "Poetry of
> George Dance" link might appreciate it too.
If you could add age data, and perhaps a photograph, it would improve the
entry... also, I assume the facts are correct. Being a Wiki, you can easily
fix anything that needs to be.

The muggles lick their eyes;
They'll lick your gland upon the strand,
But they won't lick George's lies.
The muggles lick your vomit, poop,
And Taco Bell Surprise;
They'll lick the goop from where you droop,
But they won't lick George's lies.
The muggles lick the toilet, sink,
And undersides of flies;
They'll lick the stink right off the Dink,
But they won't lick George's lies.
What makes a muggle quite so grand?
There's nothing they despise --
Who could have planned they take this stand?
They won't lick George's lies!
Gee. It still works.

Still more "holy posts" you can't produce in evidence, eh, Quack?
Here, have one on the house.
(O, Dear Me, it isn't a limerick.)
The Duck will lick your asshole and
The Duck will lick your limp;
He'll ampersand around your gland
To stiffen every crimp.
A "berry" in your foreskin glows
Pure nectar for the Duck;
His tongue but knows more tricks for those
So desperate to fuck.
He'll lick your latest poem, wait
To lick your next critique,
And stoop to bait you Laureate
For dancing "cheek to cheek."
He'll follow you through any thread,
No matter theme or host,
To lick your head if you have read
His 13,476th poast.
He doesn't have a language and
He doesn't have a job;
He has a "band," and lyrics planned
To cause you blow your gob,
Which he will wait with mouth agape
To swallow your largess:
You can't escape his daily rape
(Nor spots on his blue dress).
Love does not motivate our Duck,
He isn't a cum-hog,
But he will suck 'til Shakers fuck
To prove you are a frog.

No, you're wrong, Meat.
The poem Karma Bombs was written by me years before Cook stole it,
and as the writer of the poem under copyright law I own all rights to
the use of it. Cook used the poem without my permission, making it
theft and copyright abuse, and when he posted it onto his website
without credit to me, he took it into plagiarism.

Criticism
George Dance is a politician and political activist in
Ontario, Canada. He has been a member of the [[Libertarian
Party of Canada]] and the Ontario Libertarian Party since the
mid-1970s, and has served as interim leader of both parties.
Dance listed his occupation as stock clerk, layout artist, freelance
typesetter and office manager on various occasions between 1979 and
1993. He has long published The Bulletin, the Ontario Libertarian
Party's newsletter.
Like many others in his party, Dance has called for increased
privatization and is an opponent of unionization. He is an opponent
of anarchism, and describes himself as a "proper-government
libertarian" (i.e., supporting a government and recognizes and
respects individual liberties). Dance is also an opponent of
restrictions on public smoking.
Dance became leader of the Libertarian Party in 1991, after former
leader Stanislaw Tyminski left Canada to form Party X in
Poland. He held this position until May 1993, when [[Hilliard
Cox]] was chosen to replace him. Dance also served as interim leader
of the federal party from 1995 to 1996. Note. Liberatarians are
different from Liberals though the name is similar.
Dance has served on the executive of the Ontario Libertarian Party
since 1985, and is currently its chairman. He became the party's
leader following the resignation of John Shadbolt on June 9,
1995, and held the position until Sam Apelbaum was selected at
a delegated convention in late 1996. As party leader, Dance contested
a 1996 by-election in York South.
In 1992, Dance indicated that his party might seek an electoral
alliance with the Freedom Party of Ontario. The Freedom Party
soon rejected this suggestion.

Thanks for the offer, Amanda, but no thanks.
And thanks for proving my point... you really /are/ pathetic and
boring, poor little Amanda.

It is in Duckrish
But then anything IS in Duckrish. It avoids all that troublesome
learning.

The same scatalogical-homophobic garbage, yes, Mushmouth.
Oh, I think I understand your concept of "translation." Let me take a
stab at it:

Translation:"George hurt my feelings when he criticized my meter, but
I'll make him pay."

OTC, you've managed to write quite a lot of fiction - which you insist
is the same thing as poetry, remember?
Actually, the way I'd put to you (and your three little pigs) is: "You
constantly lie, misrepresent, and make up shit just for fun" -- but
you've got the gist of it (I think).
Poor Duck.
I'm not homophobic.
I just don't like /you/.
Don't go blaming your kind for your personal shortcomings.
As for "scatological," to write any poem (or post) about Dockery is
necessarily to write about shit.
"...And if people sit down who must write about brown,
What can anyone do?"
Tsk. I believe it was you who insisted poetry was fiction, though it
might have been Rick or Rob, but they were only trying to get a rise
out of the Duck, who insists it's autobiography.
I've maintained for 40 years (q.v.) that poetry is little more than
good reportage.
(But what a difference that "little" makes, eh?)
Actually, your own method is a whole lot simpler.
You have no acquaintance with the truth, so nobody can "convince"
you that you lie.
(Don't let it go to your head; /all/ two-year-olds know that old
Trick, 99, though most of 'em can't howl about it nearly as long as
you do -- you've had /political/ training.)
Right, like making your many statements like the only good nigger is
a dead nigger doesn't make you a racist.
Your homophobia seems to be tied in with your /self hatred/ and fear
of your own obvious latent homesexuality.
> I just don't like /you/.
Ah, so you portray me as a homosexual... which means that depicting me
in homosexual acts is intended as an insult, thus you're homophobic,
since you consider these acts to be a bad thing.
Thanks for proving my point, Amanda.

Summary of discussion so far:
1. George makes a claim.
2. George is asked to post evidence to support his claim.
3. George tries to distract attention from his inability to post
evidence by babbling, (f)laming and post-editing.
4. Everybody laughs at George, as usual.
5. George becomes so angry that he makes blank posts.
Interesting spin. Now let`s compare it with what was actually said:
> 1. George makes a claim.
>
George (to ~Terran): ``
I don't see the criticism one gets here (most of which I've
found to be along the lines of "You eat shit," "You're a pedophile,"
"Your mother sucks Dockery's cock," etc., to be particularly
helpful.``
> 2. George is asked to post evidence to support his claim.
Peter (trolling): ``Just to start the fun: Will you be providing the
Message-IDs of the
critiques you've received along those lines, or were they posted only
in a parallel universe known as GeorgeWorld?``
> 3. George tries to distract attention from his inability to post
> evidence by babbling, (f)laming and post-editing.
>
George (refusing to take the bait): ``I might at some date, if there's
a reason to.``
> 4. Everybody laughs at George, as usual.
>
Peter (still trolling): ``Translation: "There are no such messages. I
was lying."``
I suppose now you`ll claim those quotes are faked, too. (Note the lack
of Message ID`s 8)
