Now . . . on to Kat.
So what are the odds?
On Wednesday last, my sister and Jack and I were waiting for the shuttle to
our hotel on the lower level of Pacific Place, when Jack said to me, "Isn't
that that author from RAM walking over there?" I turned and LO AND BEHOLD,
it was indeed Kat. I jumped up and ran after her calling her name as I
went. We met, had a nice chat, and then Jack and I and my sister had to get
back as our shuttle was momentarily expected.

Jack just told me I spelled Boeing wrong. Opps.

I love this one. I was gluttonous on Thanksgiving, but I'd rather be
glutinous. Mucilage 'R Us. LOL Don't worry, Joan, your typos are
endearing.

Nice picture, Joan.. How fun that you ran into our Kat..

Do you mean Boeing or Bowling. In Seattle you never know.

Even I do that. Easier to just call it the greatest aerospace company in the
world. :)
I work right across the street from the Museum of Flight. I don't get over there
as often as I should. (If you come out here again, take Jack on a visit to Paul
Allen's museum up in Everett or Arlington...anyway, lots of old planes.)
Sounds like you had a great time.

This was our second Thanksgiving in Seattle. Last year the days were bright
and sunny. This year the weather was definitely damper and gloomier. After
visiting the Burke Museum late Sunday morning and early afternoon, we drove
over to Carkeek Park and walked on the beach. The fog was so thick you
could only see a few yards out, but we enjoyed the walk anyway. Some of our
fog pictures turned out nicely. It was also nasty the day we visited the
Museum of Flight. That did not keep us indoors at the museum. We all
wanted to visit the Concorde and JFK's Air Force One.
Thank goodness the day we took the ferry to Bainbridge Island was a sunnier
day.
The pizza at Madame K's was some of the best ever . . . there was rosemary
in the crust which gave it such a good flavor. However, we skipped Madame's
K's famous Chocolate Chip Orgasm dessert.

Because comcast dropped newsgroups? Hmm. if that's the case, I'll
have to email her about motzarella.org...
(missing Kat, and I'm not on LJ, so I don't see her there, either)
I've appreciated motzarella--I can post even when away from home--not
something I can do with my charter.net account. So I can read and post to
newsgroups now, but only download emails, not mail out.

If Joan was glutinous at Salty's on Alki in Seattle, I'd be glutinous
there too. Mmmmm, Salty's.
Mary
I did enjoy Salty's on Alki (my favorite restaurants are usually on water),
but when it came to my favorite restaurant on this trip- it was The Icon
Grill in downtown Seattle.

Thanks for posting the photo again, Fran.

The Museum of Flight does not belong to the Boeing company and has no
connection with the company at all, except that Boeing makes
occasional donations. This is a common misconception, which greatly
affects the donations to the Museum.
The most interesting display at the Museum of Flight, to me, is the
A-11 Blackbird modified into the M-12 "mother ship" for launching the
Mach-3 D-12 recce drones. There were two aircraft so modified. The
other one was lost when one of the drones hit the airplane, removing
one of the vertical stabilizers. The crew ejected safely, but the
backseater was drowned before he was rescued.
The Museum graciously allowed Dryden to remove the strongback
installed in the M-12 to install in our SR-71 for the LASRE, Linear
AeroSpike Research Experiment, which was a half-model of a lifting
body with an aerospike engine. We provided a replacement that allowed
them to keep the D-12 mounted atop the Blackbird in return.
And you spelled "gluttonous" quite wrongly, unless your friends are
very unusual.
Mary "Boeing did donate the barn and many aircraft, though."
