I only recently started reading Mystery/Thriller novels. I really
enjoyed all of Chandler's Marlowe and have read some of Hammett's
Continental Agent stuff. Recently I have gotten in to Andrew Vachss and
have read most of his stuff. This lead me to Walter Mosley and I have read
all of his Easy Rawlins novels.

Can anyone suggest some authors that would fit in here? I have run
out of night table books and am having trouble getting to sleep at night.

You might try Lawrence Block's Scudder series....I personally like the Burglar
series better, but it sounds like Scudder would be more in line with your
likes. -- Gary

Another series you might enjoy is John Dunning's Cliff Janeway series. Booked
to Die and The Bookman's Wake are the two titles in that series.

Peter;
I would suggest you try Dennis Lehane:
A Drink before the War, Darkness take My Hand, sacred, Gone Babt Gone,
The Carol O'Connell series featuring Mallory, and the new stand alone,
Judas Child, also. the John Francis Cuddy series by Jeremiah Healy,
Lawrence Block, Kinky Friedman.
That's enough of a start.

Try Rob Kantner, Benjamin Schutz or Les Roberts. Robert Parker
and John D MacDonald are also very good.

I think you would like the Dave Robicheaux books by James Lee Burke.

I'd recommend Michael Connelly if you like the west coast feel. Robert B.
Parker if you want the East/Boston or Lawrence Block.

The last three-turners I've read:

David Wiltse's _The Edge of Sleep_
Minette Walters _Sculptress_
Tami Hoag's _Night Sins_

I discovered David Morrell earlier this summer and read three in a row
(_Testament_, _The Brotherhood of the Rose_, and _Extreme Denial_)

These are the authors listed under Suspense/Thrillers on my site. There are
technothrillers, spy suspense, court room thrillers, romance thrillers...
TOM CLANCY
MARY HIGGINS CLARK
ROBIN COOK
LEN DEIGHTON
KEN FOLLETT
JOHN GRISHAM
JACK HIGGINS
TAMI HOAG
JOHN LeCARRE
PAUL LINDSAY
JOHN R. MAXIM
CHARLES McCARRY
DAVID MORRELL
IAIN PEARS
DONALD E. WESTLAKE
DAVID WILTSE

Have fun!
