I scanned this list yesterday, and discovered that a lot of detecting
protagonists are beginning to have names that sound like they stumbled
into the book from a romance novel.

These are detectives?

[Please, don't let any of the creators of these characters lurk here]

Melody Beecham
Samantha St.John
Jordan LaFontaine
Kathleen Medusa
Stoney Calhoun
Dalton Vail
Swamp Morgan
Charles Thoroughgood
Kaycee Miller
Savannah Reed
Chantalaene Morrell

There is also a Zelda Fluck, but I don't see her with heaving bosoms.

Is this the result of a number of romance-genre writers who have thought it
clever or easy to transition to the mystery genre? Or is it the "romantic
suspense" publishers? When we see a protagonist named, oh, Sluice, you'll know
that there is a real problem.

Hah!

There seem to be a lot of "regular" publishers on the list, but I wsn't
really checking them that closely. Those names were just too
compelling for me to see anything else.

I didn't recognize any more than a couple of authors, though.
