Diagnosed today with the first H1N1 case on our block! Not the honor I'd
expected to receive, but you take what you can get. Anyway,
self-quarantined for a week, just to void sharing.

Oh, Don! I'm so sorry you have to go through this nasty flu. Take good
care of yourself.

If you feel up to reading, I understand there's an author named Harstad
who has some good books out. In your field, too... police procedural.

Prayers for a rapid recovery.

Frankly, we have not noticed too much H1N1 up here yet, but during my
recent trip south to Kelowna - oh my goodness! Motels almost empty,
same to restaurants, and many merchants saying that business is way
down. What a time to read LeHane on the 1919 Spanish Flu....

On the other hand, a young woman came to dinner at our place (she
and her husband like to play FRPs with my daughter and son-in-law)
and explained she hadn't been around for a while since she'd
contracted H1N1. She'd spent about a week staying home and in
bed and in semi-isolation. She was all better now and not contagious,
and her husband didn't catch it either.

So I hope it is as easy to recover from for you as it was for
her.

(I see my pulmonologist tomorrow for my COPD; I'll let him decide
whether to give me flu shots or not. I live in near-isolation
anyway....)

Honest, it's only a block away, and when the wind is from the south, I can
literally smell the donuts beginning about three AM. We are well located.

Dorothy, I'll wager he'll say, "What're you waiting for, lady? Get
that shot!" (or words to that effect...) I was informed by my
allergist that with my COPD, if I contracted it, the odds were
approaching certainty that I would not live through a bout (and I'm
pretty isolated right now, too.) So, if he does, please, be sure to
follow his advice?

Uh, well, I saw him today and he didn't. He gave me some more
Advair to inhale, and some more Spiriva to inhale, and some
antibiotics just in case, and said "Come back in two weeks."
Maybe in two weeks I'll remember to ask him.

I'll follow his advice even if it goes out the window (kidding;
his office is on the second floor). He's cool.
