http://therapsheet.blogspot.com/2009/12/how-swede-it-is.html
But contains very explicit sexual violence -
Have a good time guys

Lucky you to see it early! I was very pleased to read that Variety announced
that Music Box Films has acquired the U.S. distribution rights for the
Swedish movie based on the book. The film has already grossed almost $100
million internationally and is slated for release early in 2010. Trailer is
here.. http://www.soundonsight.org/trailer-the-girl-with-the-dragon-tatoo/
and it looks great, especially the casting of Noomi Rapace as Salander and
who looks just like I pictured her ;-)
(Seems the a US remake is already in the offing iwth Brad Pitt and George
Clooney possibly in line for the Hollywood version. Hmm. I think I'd prefer
to see the original Swedish film, sub-titled...)
Happy Holidays, Ali!

I couldn't see the actress very well in the trailer, but my first thought
was that it was too bad that Linda Hunt is too old for the part--she would
have been perfect.

She's under 5' tall, she's androgynous, she's very intelligent. Have you
seen The Year of Living Dangerously?
I think that Salander is "attractive" and "sexy" in her own way ..
Can't think of LH (even when young) in those terms..
Sorry..

I know what you mean. But she is so powerful that I think she could do it.
<G>
It's one of my all time favorite movies!
What a thriller... when they are out after the party.. after the curfew,
driving thru the check points... wow!
Gives me goosebumps..

Well, if I really really really use my imagination...... um, uh, hm, she's
still a no go for me ;-)
Sorry again. But Linda Hunt is an extemely powerful performer on screen,
totally agree on that..
Casting to type and a certain look, I think, is important for the Salander
character...
I really cannot think of anyone suitable to cast in my film at the moment..
Will have to get back to you ;-)
Annie
When I read the first novel "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo", I kept
seeing Pauley Perette who plays Abigail "Abby" Sciuto on the TV series,
NCIS. Seemed like a perfect match until I read the second book, "The
Girl Who Played With Fire".
Perette could probably play the part but without the silly adoration of
her partners. I think she'd have to get much darker in character and get
away from 'Abby'. Salander is much more than teen-aged Goth.
BTW - I enjoy greatly the NCIS series. We've watched the series since it
started and enjoy all the characters, including Abby, on the show.

Everybody is right.
-Rochefoucault
I like Pauley Perette but she's much too normal in appearance, especially
size. Salander has to be tiny, a person people genuinely mistake for a 12 yr
old. Frances MacDormand would be perfect in terms of ability to play the
character, but she doesn't look the part and is of course too old now.
There are probably some great actresses out there who aren't well known
beccause they aren't conventionally pretty who could do the job...if someone
will let them.
I've only seen NCIS 2 times.. Eh. Wasn't my cuppa..
But, yes, I think Pauley Perette could be Salanger..
