Hope is always there. My agent says there is strong interest in one with a
US publisher, and the French have inquired about another. They have done
all of them, and this May will get one out the door that hasn't been
published here.
Also have the usual (not to sound jaded... they just pop up fairly often)
film inquiries. One just came up regarding HBO, and we're working on that.
If this is a typical interest, I may get some cash, and they have the rights
for a period of time, and then they kick the rights back to me sans filming.
No problem with that!

It's difficult to say, really, because the books span a longish period of
time. Recently, I thought that Allyson Hannigan would make a fine older
Sally. And, in keeping with the Whedon look, the actress (Amy somebody....I
am HORRIBLE with names... maybe Acker?) who played Fred in Angel would be a
good Hester. Flattering Carl a bit, I think that David Boreanaz has the
right sense of humor for the role.
I've never come up with a perfect Carl fit, but I'm always open to
suggestions. If Carl were to look like me, we'd need somebody like Wilford
Brimley. (Gonna have to improve on the prototype. Can't get around that.!)
. It's also difficult because the book Carl is six fee four, and without
using the photographic tricks from Lord of the Rings, most actors aren't
large enough.

I can't suggest actors for the fictional group because I don't follow
movies these days. Making Carl so tall .... why did you? Being that
tall could cause him some problems and likely did. Guess I'd better
pull out my copies and read them again.

I've spend a little time on this question--I always see Sandra Bullock as
Sally--I just do. I don't have the books here right now (I keep them at
work), but I think of William H. Macy as the a$$hole co-worker. And I like
that Carl is tall-tall. My son-in-law is a couple of inches taller and just
as broad-shouldered. He's built like a football player, and it made me
think that a few professional sportsmen have made the move from sports to
acting; some can even act. Look outside of the Hollywood box.
Although Boreanaz does have a certain appeal...

275 lbs. Actually worked out, I did. Anyway, being those dimensions effects
your approach to people, and their reactions to you. Don't have to shout
much, for one thing; and if you're standing in a doorway, nobody tries to
brush you aside and get away. So I made Carl tall because he has my
approach to people... much, much easier to write it that way. The only
problem was low ceilings in old basements. <grin>

If the nice Don Harstad would be so kind as to list the main characters from
his books, with perhaps a little background information, such height weight,
age and maybe ethnic background.
Then RAM just might be able to come up with a list of actors and actress to
portray those characters.

Isn't that the best! Getting paid for not writing. Even if you have to
write a treatment, it's 6 pages at most, as producers' attention spans
are half that.
One of my doctors has a son who's a s screen-writer in Hollywood, and
she told me, "I don't understand it. Nothing he writes ever gets
produced, but they pay him anyway. They're paying him for *nothing.*"
