Male actors who HAVEN'T played a cop

I recently saw an ad for a movie that starred Richard Gere as a cop. For some
reason, he was one of the last people I imagined as one. That got me
thinking: are there any prominent male actors in recent memory who haven't
played a cop at some point? Some that stand out to me:
[note that I stretch "cop" to mean "enforcement official", so James Bond
qualifies]
Roger Moore Bond, and "The Saint", if one counts TV.
Mark Harmon Presidio.
Sean Connery Bond, Outland.
John Wayne McQ, Brannigan.
Gene Hackman French Connection
James Woods Cop.
Clint Eastwood Enforcer, etc.
Richard Gere Internal Affairs (is that right?)
Seems to be a popular role.
Thought it would be a fun discussion...

Hang on... I thought you wanted to know prominent actors who HAVEN'T played
an "enforcement official" at some point. Why would you list, therefore, a
list of those that HAVE and say that these are some that stand out for you?

De Niro played a bounty hunter in MIDNIGHT RUN. Isn't that an enforcement
official of sorts? Brando was a Southern sheriff in THE CHASE. I forget the
role but on a tv commercial, Robert Duvall says something like "I've played a
lot of characters in my time, from a country and western singer to a cop." I
don't know about Hoffman.

policy aside) and neither are intelligence agents (although an exception for

acceptable, but probably not to any real cop. Hollywood is anything but real.

Richard Gere and Kim Basinger starred in "No Mercy." Dennis Quaid and
Ellen Barkin were in "The Big Easy." The only reason I went to see "No Mercy"
was because I am a big Kim Basinger fan.

CONFESSIONS, which was based on the infamous and unsolved
Blue Dahlia murder case which occurred in Los Angeles in the
1940's. The picture also starred Robert De Niro, who played
Duvall's brother, a worldly Catholic monsignor.

Not only did Chareton Heston and Orson Welles play cops,
but the did so in the same picture, namely TOUCH OF EVIL (Universal,
1958). Welles also directed and wrote the script for this film,
which, sadly, was his last feature-film directorial effort in
Hollywood.
Welles plays a character named Hank Quinlan, who is a police
captain in a small American town on the Mexican border. Heston
plays a Mexican narcotics cop who ends up investigating the alleged
corruption of the Hank Quinlan character. Janet Leigh plays Heston's
new American bride. Dennis Weaver and Akim Tamarrov are both excellent
in supporting roles. Many of Welles' pals, such as Marlene Dietrich,
Zsa Zsa Gabor, Joseph Cotten and Mercedes McCambridge, appear in
cameo roles.
I highly recommend this picture.

Now if just ONE more person would please tell me that that was Al Pacino and
NOT Dustin Hoffman, then I think I might get the idea that I made a mistake.
I knew after the first fifteen that something was up, but I wasn't sure what.
Then, about ten later, I had an idea it had to do with my post about actors
playing cops. Of course, a mere six or seven posts after that (which brings
us up to the present) I think I know what you're saying.
You're trying to tell me that Pacino played Serpico, and NOT Dustin Hoffman,
aren't you?

CORRECT HIM/HER BY E-MAIL, don't post it.
Post only if you're certain (ie. you're the world's top authority,
acredited by the Royal Society) that you're the only one who is likely
to know the answer.

Not quite. Rick Schroder (Yes, he calls himself Rick now) played a cop
in a TV-movie last year called something like TROUBLE ON ROUTE 19. I didn't
watch it, but when it came out there were a number of articles in TV Guide

I think that a Secret Service man, as a law enforcement
officer, falls under the general category of "cop".
