Including, I suppose, the chariot scene in BEN HUR where you can see a red mini
in the background

OK, for all you people out there with VCRs, try single-stepping the scene from
Gremlins where the Xmas tree falls over. You can see a bearded gentleman with
sun glasses and a red sweater pushing it over. I reckon it was Speilberg :-)

[[And I spotted this in the cinema, but only by accident !]]

Another one I know of is from Mad Max II or the Road Warrior to our
friends across the pond.

There is a scene towards the end of the film where the driver's door of
the Mack truck Max is driving is ripped off by one of Humongous'
lot and exposes Max to the elements. Though very briefly, you can see
quite clearly inside the cab of the truck, a technician (cameraman, soundman?)
sitting where the passenger's seat should be!

On a slightly different note, how many people spotted the sand dripping
out of the tanker while the chase is going on? Something of a clue
to the end of the film, or what?

In Aliens, at the end after Bishop has been diced, he reaches out for Newt
and you can see very clearly the actor's waist coming out of a hole in the
floor. On a related subject, in Spaceballs, the control rods for the
alien dancing across the countertop at the end are very obvious.

Nope, I think that the person in the truck with Max is the "Feral Kid,"
the kid who played with the stainless boomerang.

Jarod is right. There is a man on the floor of the tractor cab. The Feral
Kid is still hanging on the back of the cab at this point. If you have the
film on video you can slo-mo it and you will see the guy for a few frames.
