TRUE LIES - poor audio quality (UK VIDEO VERSION)

just watched the UK Video Version of TRUE LIES and was I disapointed
by the audio quality, I mean it wasn't bad, it was loud, there was
no noise or something, but comparing it to the german VHS Version
I watched a couple of weeks, and comparing them side by side, I must
say, the UK version stunk, the explosions were not that loud, and
not as good sounding as in the german version, the surround sound
was way lower, almost not existent when comparing to the german version,
did I just get a bad tape, or did CIC UK somehow screw up, also the
music just wasn't the same, it didn't sound as full and as bright
as the german version, I'm writing this, because up to know, I never
had the experience that the original version actually sounded much
worse then the german version but with TRUE LIES it did, since I assume
that the NTSC LD sounds awesome (at least people wrote that) I must
assume that UK CIC somehow managed to fuck up the sound, can anyone
from britain confirm this or something ?

I hired it out two days after it had been released. I have a Nicam
Video, and a nice hi fi with surround speakers, but not Dolby...
Anyways, the quality of the sound on the video was really crap....but
not in the sense that I couldn't hear anything. I had this popping,
and crackling all the way through it, especially out of my surround
speakers, and I have never had anything so distracting. I managed to
get my money back....I checked my system, and it was certainly nothing
to do with that.
Later on, I hired the Mask. The quality on that was crap too. When I
complained, I got all this rubbish about sending it back to SONY to
get it checked, and if they said that there was a problem with it,
then I would get my money back.....hmmmmm I think not......
