Hello....

My names Mathew Kodath. I am a student in India, currently doing my
undergraduate studies in Computer Science over here. I finish this
year in April. I was hoping i could take some your time to help me
with making a decision in regard to The Vancouver Film School.

I am planning to make a career shift to Film and Televison
Production from engineering. VFS is one of my top choices, mainly due
to the time factor in regard to the course duration.

I've been looking at the program called "Foundation Visual Art &
Design" quite seriously as a stepping stone to doing the Film and TV
production course.

- Could you give me some frank opinions abt the Foundation Visual Art
and Design course ?

- I intend to do the Film Production course after the Foundation
program, my thinking is that since i don't have an arts background,
tht it might be a good idea to get a good grounding on some
fundamentals. will the Foundation course serve my purpose ?

- And what is your perception of VFS as a Film School ?

- The VFS brochure makes a statement that VFS is on Hollywoods
informal "A" list of Film Schools... is that true ?

it would be really great if i could get some feedback on this
topic. Thanking you so much for your time and effort...

Sincerely,

matt

Most people and actors appearing on the stage have some writers to write their
material -- but I don't do that. Congress is good enough for me. They have been
writing my material for years and I am not ashamed of the material I have had.
I am going to stick to them.

Well, seeing that every other school on the "A" list is a full-time,
multi-year, degree granting graduate program, my instinct is to say no.

This is not to say that it's worthless, but generally these condesed,
one-year programs do not have as good a reputation as that major MFA
programs. (And understand that the a list is, in itself, pretty short.
USC, UCLA, NYU, AFI, and UT Austin-- as well as maybe Columbia and a
pair of schools in Florida.)
