I don´t know if this has been mentioned before but the Mikrotrack only
delivers 30V of phantom power. I called Schoeps and they told me that
the CMC6 allthough labeled 12-48V only accepts 12 **OR** 48V. It wont
work at full specs with a voltage between 12 and 48V.

For me this was news. Maybe it helps someone else...

that's quit strange that schoeps has v detector , since most of the 12-52
have voltage regulator circuit

the cmc 3
which designed for 12v could handle 48 as well ( by taking much more
current)

maybe someone can clarify that but actually 48 phantom mike doesn't see 48 v
since there is dropping voltage on the 6.8k resistor , so what happens with
30v ?
maybe Dan can check the unit with his schoeps and see if the performers
change drasticly .

Schoeps (5,3) take the 48V and convert to over 70 volts, so low voltage
would be a very bad thing.

I´ll will call Schoeps again to get some more info on the 12-48V
weirdness.
I´ll keep you posted.
I don´t have a CMC6 myself so I can´t test this. Also I only have
mixers that can provide 12V or 48V phantom so I can not test what
happens with 30V of phantom.
That´s why I called Schoeps in the first place.

I got feedback from Joerg Wuttke from Schoeps. He states that a CMC6
will not work at full specs wehn used at phantom is not 12V or not 48V.
It leads to increased noise and distortion in low frequencies.
He also says that he doesn´t understand why an audio device with 30V
is released because it is beyond all phantom standards.
