best source for 9 volt and AA batteries?

In the past I've bought Procell AA's and 9V's from: www.batterywarehousedirect.com

You can get 240 Procell 9V for less than a dollar a piece and shipping
is only USD$5.00 but if you buy less they are slightly more expensive.

I suggest using rechargeable batteries. It's irresponsible to use
disposables.

The iPower 520mAh 9V is reliable and lasts longer than alkaline -
available at Coffey/LSC/Wilcox in Los Angeles, and other places too I
would guess.

As for AA, there are many threads here on which ones are best. I like
the "hybrid" type that may not last quite as long, but are good to go
if they have been sitting for a few days. Most others need a top off.

Remember, lithium batteries become less toxic to throw away the more
depleted they are, so if you use these type of disposables, then be
sure to kill them off in some less critical equipment before you throw
them away.

i have used the ipower 500 mA batteries for over 200 days of shoot
with very few problems. In lectros, audio 2020/2040 Tx, Ambient TC
slate Tx, Comteks....

I know others have had issues with their iPower 9volts, but I swear by
mine. I still carry a package of 9 volts with me, but I have not
broken it open in a year.
It has been one of the better investments I have made, both time and
money saving

I killed a pair by leaving them in and on for a week. They would only take
a very short charge thereafter. I relegated that pair to garage door
openers.

Apart from my negligence they work very well.

The iPower 520mAh "Professional" Lithium-Polymer 9V rechargeable seems
to be a new item, so new that it does not yet appear on the iPowerUS
site.

I am very interested to hear user comments on their reliability, since
I'd like to be able to replace my aging 500mAh units with new ones if
they're dependable - and hopefully be able to recommend them.

I have about 40 or so of the ipower 500 batteries and love em. I
just ordered 8 of the new 520's for my show that starts next week.
I'll update after the first week of use.

I am the Director of Multimedia at a church in Columbia, MD. The 520
batteries we purchased work well and are reliable, however, they only
give out about 8.3v. We believe this is good enough, but we have 3
services a day that would normally require one 9v alkaline. We haven't
taken a chance on the new rechargeable for more than one service,
since when we place them in a mic, we get one bar (out of 3) for
power, and the red led indicating low battery stays on. WE have been
good for at least 2 hours use on our Shure Wireless mics, with no
dropouts so far. Stay tuned...

They should run about the same as a standard good quality alkaline.
They actually run longer in the higher drain Lectros. Put one in a
Shure unit and let it run down completely and note how many hours it
will operate. 8.3 Volts is normal and it will hold that voltage longer
than an alkaline will. Ignore the battery indicators as they are not
correct; do your own test as above.

I have heard that ipower is good about replacing faulty units. Does
anyone have an address/contact info so I might be able to return my
defective units (totaly dead, blinking charger lite)?

If you want to know about batteries,I have a wealth of knowledge.
His Name is Larry.
Sorry about the false indicators on the devices. This does throw a lot
of people off.
If it helps, the ZTS battery tester reads 80% on a fully charged
iPower.
Most batteries will charge to 8.2.. Factory says 8 to 8.4 is good.
They
start lower than alkaline but hold the voltage higher. They will
deliver 80% of the capacity by 7.2.Volts. An interesting point is that
these batteries are actually 700mAh, but to use the entire capacity
would lead to a short lifespan, hence false advertizing, and Larry
would have caught us right off the bat anyway.
If you have 3 sermons a day, you will get longer life by charging
after every sermon.
But I don't know that you would get enough extra life to make it
worthwhile.
So the general rule is recharge as frequently as is reasonable, try
not to short them or
glow small wires, store them charged, keep the terminals clean, and
that is about all you can do.

In regards to the generation issue, each new version was an upgrade of
some kind, but
quality control of the Lithium and raw materials presented a lot of
unforseeable problems.
And the defects were in batches, so to some dealers/users it seemed a
disaster.

Of 2500 520 pro batteries around the world, I know of 3 failures, all
with one client.
and 2 issues starting UH400As. When some time passes we will know
better, but I can say most of the compatability issues are gone, and
so far so good.

You can take your batteries back to the dealers, the warranty is 3
months. If it is difficult to do that you can email me to work it
out.

The Pro batteries are in short supply for now, unfortunatley, and we
are trying to get stock for existing returns. I expect to have stock
in the USA, by the end of the month, at which time we will ship the
returned units.

Been a few weeks now and I am happier with the 500's then the 520's.
I'm not seeing any difference in the time used and with a few of the
520's, they are shorter. I'll use these in Comteks but not sure if
I'm convinced enough to keep them in my Lectros. I get 3 1/2 - 4
hours with the 500's and very little failure.
