Subject: Tascam HD-P2, Mipro ACT-707TM Transmitter and MIPRO MR-90 ENG Receiver
Considering buying Tascam HD-P2, Mipro ACT-707TM Transmitter and MIPRO
MR-90 ENG Receiver. I have experience with Mipros, and they work OK,
but does anyone compared them with other brands in the same price
range (Senn G2 100 eng). Also I would like to here from you any
experience with Tascam HD-P2, or any advice for bying something else.

Thanks

What will you be using the HDP2 for?  It's fine as a recorder at
16/48, 24/48 doesn't really sound any better.  I use an HDp2 all the
time, but you have to understand its limitations, esp in the realm of
sync and clocking.  Its onboard clock is not very accurate, so using
its onboard TC generator to stamp files and that clock to drive the
convertors will make for sync issues re: video and film cameras and
other devices like TC slates if your takes are long--say over 10 min
or so.  I generally use the P2 w/ external TC and use that TC as a
clock source.  This works well with video cameras that have a TC
output (professional cameras), often via wireless.  For film and for
work w/ cameras w/o TC output I usually connect a Denecke SB2 to the
TC input, and jam the TC slate to the SB2.  Having dealt with the TC
and clock issues the HDP2 has been a very reliable machine for me on
many many jobs over the last couple of years.  I found a used SB2 for
$250.  The next real jump up in quality and good TC/clocking is the
Sound Devices 702T, but that costs 2.5 x what the HDP2 costs.
