The Road (2009)
|
| |
Dir:John Hillcoat
What an awful film!
This is a post-holocaust plot looking for a reason to exist.
To emphasize a mood, there is very little colour, and this goes for the plot, too.
I have a liking for post-holocaust movies which don't have Zombies in them, so I endured this to the end,... more »

The Colossus of Rhodes
1961 NR 128 minutes
When Greek warrior Darios (Rory Calhoun) arrives in Rhodes in 280 B.C., he finds it under the thumb of the dictatorial King Serse (Roberto Camardiel). Under the watchful eye of the massive statue of Apollo, Darios romances Diala (Lea Massari) and joins Peliocles (Georges Marchal) in his rebellion against Serse. Director Sergio Leone's debut film is set against the backdrop of one of the real-life, albeit now toppled, Seven Wonders of the World.... more »

MASH (1970)
|

Errol Morris's One Good Eye

Since then I've seen "The Fog of War" as well as his TV series "First... more »

"A Life In The Theatre" Broderick/Lemmon
|
| |
Has anybody ever seen this film? I saw the trailer, and really wanted to see it, but it
never came to any cinema or TV station near
me, so now I'm looking for a DVD of it, and even Ebay is not very productive...
So I guess it wasn't a huge hit.

Gtr,
Not sure if you liked Ramin Bahrani's Man Push Cart, but I recently saw Goodbye Solo and Chop Shop and I definitely recommend both. Great stuff.

"Gentlemen Marry Brunettes" - rude shock
|
| |
I don't expect Leonard Maltin, in his guide, to include warnings of certain sick elements in ALL such movies.....there are far too many.
But this HAS to be an exception. What excuse would any author have for not doing so?
By that I mean: While it's not that surprising, sad to say, to see a racist musical number in a 1950s movie - in this case, a cannibal scene that conveniently includes a gorilla - what made it worse than unbelievable was when they started singing "Ain't Misbehavin."... more »
