I am looking for some info on something of a film urban legend for me.
I heard about an experimental short shot in the 1960's or 70's which
depicted art history on single frame cuts. "Everything" would fit into
that, from Lascaux cave art to postmodern art.
Sorry, but I have no further info on this film. Has someone got any
data about it?

You're probably thinking of David Bianculli's "American Time Capsule."
Other names for the piece also. It was American History in 3 minutes,
not Art History, though obviously there were tons of still photos of
photographs and paintings.
The film got its widest exposure as a backdrop for Mason William's
musical composition "Classical Gas" on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour
in the late 1960s/early 70's.
