I am a bored, unemployed, crazy 51 year old baby boomer. A bit over a
month ago I became seriously annoyed while watching the media coverage
of that sicko Cho who shot up people at VA Tech. I decided that if
people were so interested in that event, then they might be willing to
read what I had to say on various subjects. So I looked at threads on
Google groups and I started posting responses. After a couple of days
I started the Google group "Lonnie Courtney Clay" to provide a single
reference source for what I was posting. As time passed I decided that
the problems in the U.S.A. today can be attributed to social and
cultural deterioration coupled with the enormous bloating of
government during the past 40 years. On the thread given below I am
recalling books, movies, TV shows and music which formed the cultural
basis for my world-view. If you think that it might be interesting,
check it out. It should be read backwards because I started off slow
and fumbling.

I guess we are in the same boat. I've been unemployed for quite some
time and am a baby boomer too: I was born in July of 1948. I agree
with your post on that the problems with America stem from cultural
deterioration and I enjoyed your post on all the great hits from way
back when except I never knew any of Presley's lyrics (even though I
listened to him as a child).
