Actually, I remember seeing in an interview when Wayne's World was
first out, Penelope Spheeris saying that they built that particular
thingamajiggy just for the movie - they spent some huge amount of
money to build it, and "if you blink, you miss it." At least I think
that was the car thing she was referring to, it might have been one of
the other signs or something. But I think it was the car thing....
heheh, I've never been to Illinois, I only remember this because WW is
one of my fav. movies, and back then I watched *anything* about WW.
Anyway, anyone near that area, feel free to correct me, but I don't
think the car thing is real.

I'm quite certain this is a real thing because, coincidentally, just
after the last time I watched "Wayne's World" I saw a TV commercial
by the State of Illinois (I think it was a Lottery commercial) that
showed various sights around the state, and the "car spire" was
one of them (and it wasn't a clip from the movie).

Cermak Plaza, Cermak & Harlem (2200S, 7200W) Berwyn.
By public transport take the Congress or Lake to Harlem & a SB Harlem
bus, or the Douglas to the end of the line and a WB Cermak bus.
The plaza is home to a number of abstract art works although the
massive collection of garbage cemented together has been removed for
some years.
