MSTK3000---please name this movie

MSTK3000 did their treatment to a color 50's maybe ,early 60's,Sci-fi movie.
What little I remember is that in the start of the movie, the pilot(the
hero)lands his plane and is superior(older man) and a young women(maybe a
newspaper reporter)elist him to defend earth against aliens. Later, in the
movie, I believe they are captured by the aliens and are put into clear
cylinders for some reason. I started a search on IMDB but lost me way after
awhile

Sound familiar to anyone?

screen MST3K movie.

You must be young. THIS ISLAND EARTH was a superior sci-fi spectacle
upon release... never a classic in any but a pulp sense, and light-
years from PLAN 9. That's one reason its MST3K parody was short on
the belly-laughs that attend the usual, painfully stupid, target
films. In springing for a "big" movie to lampoon, they maybe
should've picked one that audiences revered or hated, rather than one
that merely entertained as it meant to.

Yeah, I never understood why anybody thought TIE was cannon fodder.

In those days, building a radio or some other electronic device from a plan
and list of parts was something many could relate to.
The usual worry over being invaded by another culture was played up to,
and the theme of superior science/technology being the answer to everything
may well have rung some familiar bells.
It isn't the best it could have been, but as one IMDB reviewer noted "if you
have just a bit of imagination.."
I think that's the answer to your last sentence.
