The first half of this film is brilliant , gives you a great
feeling of what it is to live in a village in Punjab. The second half
you feel will it never end?!
Some wonderful moments - the waltz, the song without
bankground music which raises goose pimples, beautiful shots of
Switzerland. The roar of the fighter jets in the Kargil war.
Photography is truly outstanding.
One complains of subtitling in Bollywood movies , sometimes
they leave out the songs or whole chunks of dialog. Here it is the
opposite , there is too much of it ! People dont say anything but
there is extensive subtitling , although it is very good indeed. One
error when in Hindi the guy says he is going 'saat samundar paar--
seven oceans distant , it is translated as a weak 'I am going far'.
Lot of Bollywood language is imaginative and quite enjoyable and draws
pictures in your mind and the subtitling should stick to it.
Its a movie to enjoy the slow pace and look at the
background .
