months ( not since 9-11 ) amazingly enough the vid stores stayed afloat without
me.
One thing i noticed immediately is that the DVD sections have expanded, they
are now nearly half the stock.
I stopped by the Playpen where they sell Beastiality videos, all the new vids
are on Dvd and selling at 60 dollars a pop rather then the usual 40 dollars.
I have recently purchased a DVD player and know someting about them , and so
figured out why the porn stores are pushing DVDs down the porn buyers throat.
Its a little thing called Macrovision, a security device encoded into Dvds
that does not allow you to make copies.
Its the Distrubuters who are pushing this, in an effort to keep the towel
heads who run the stores from making thier own copies. When ever you buy a VHS
tape the Iranian boys always ask you if you want the Boxcover, sure they keep
the boxcover and make pure profit when they run off thier basterdized copies in
the backroom, you always know when you get a tape that the towel heads have
copied...there is always some fuck up with them..either the sound is messed up
or the video is jumpy.
but fuck these guys...VCRs are for porn ...and i refuse to buy a porn DVD
just because they want me too. DVDs really wont replace VCRs until the DVD
Recoreder sells for under 200 dollars. Then Vcrs will Join Vinyl albums in the
dustbin of history.
about the Bestiality tapes...i told the arab at the Playpen he can shove the
60 dollar DVD up his ass, 40 dollars was pushing the limit 60 dollars is way
over the top.
Some other things i noticed:
There are so many interracial videos on the market right now , i can't even
count them all.

vids,and i thought i was bad.
i stopped by the European vid store, a store that specializes in fist fucks,
piss in the face, shit in the mouth vids, some of the fisting vids are really

I left the porn stores, and headed over to Times square mingling with the
yuppies and thier Yuppie off spring, watching the cars drive over the axle
busting potholes that passes for the road around times square and as i looked

sighed and thought back to the glory that once was and shed a tear to the past.

That's strange. I was just thinking the othr night that DVDs were made for
porn and pretty much useless for mainstream movies.
I watch The Maltese Falcon the same way on my DVD player that I do on a
VCR. DVDs on the other hand were obviously invented by techno geeks who
watch a constant stream of compilation tapes. Who else would have come up
with the idea of being able to skip entire scenes and blow up freeze
frames?
Then again, I still play my vinyl albums. The blues just don't sound right
without some crackle in the speakers. :>

Baloney, DVD is taking over as we write. The reason is because DVDs are
easy
to rent through the mail. Most people don't have access to a great porn
selection, and if they do, it is through an adult bookstore they'd rather not
visit. So they rent with relative anonymity through places like XRentDVD.com.
And if they want to purchase, there are tons of DVD sites, but the online
selection of tapes is much smaller.
Six months ago, DVDs were 2-30% of sales (depending on title) at Evil
Angel, according to Tricia Devereaux. That figure keeps going up, and I
expect
tapes will be almost gone in another two years.
Remember, New York and a few other cities are an almost unique
environment.
Most people around the world don't have access to shop after shop of bootlegs
and nominally illegal acts. NTSC DVDs are playable worldwide, and so the
American companies make DVDs they can market to Europe themselves, instead of
licensing tapes to another company, yet another reason DVDs are becoming
prevalent.
Tapes were great 20 years ago, but their era is almost over....

like i said before, the DVD Recorder is the key...the Dvd Recorder was just
introduced this autumn, at about 1,000 dollars a pop its pretty steep, and the
DVD-R are pretty expensive too.
When Dvd recorders are selling for 200 dollars or less, and you can buy a 8
pack of DVD-R for 12 bucks, VCRs will be history.
it is every porn collectors dream to transfer his collection to DVD, with all
the benifits of a DVD including the ability to skip to your favorite scene ,
just like you skip to your favorite song on CDs.
DVDs do not degrade like VHS tapes, most VHS tapes will begin to break down
at the 15 year mark ,much quicker if you store them wrong...such as stacking
them one on top of the other.
but the best thing is the slimness of The Dvd, half my hopuse is now at the
mercy of stacks of VHS tapes, i can transfer the whole thing to DVD using one
fifth the space.

stock

Thanks for the update on porn in midtown Manhatten which I snipped.
If I ever visit NYC I guess I'll take in the SOL afterall. I am
curious about the European store which sells fisting, pissing,
shitting videos ala Germany. It's been discussed in the ng before
about such scenes being edited from American releases presumably
because they would be pornographic under existing community standards
anywhere in the country. In my opinion the distributors don't want to
spend the money in court on obsenity charges. My community is very
tolerant of adult videos but I know some assistant DA would look twice
if such material was available. So can you give us anymore
information on the subject? Also would anybody else chime in if such
material is readily available in their area.

*Very* few have macrovision - about the same percentage as VHS tapes
that do (ie almost all legit mainstream, negligible porn films) ...
they have to pay for the copy protection to be added to the people who
created Macrovision(TM).
In addition:
How often do you see a VCR sold with the macrovision diabled?
Negligible if any - the people who copy tapes buy a separate box
macrovision remover for 80$.
How often do you see a DVD chipped/pre-prepared to remove the
macrovision?
Quite often (along with multi-region outside the US) in my experience.
It's easier to buy and creates a better picture than an offboard
disabler so if they're using DVD to stop copiers they are doing
totally the wrong thing!
They're doing it (IMO) because its a better picture and sound (some
pornos are now being made in widescreen and with DTS 5.1 sound AIUI),
it's the way the future is going (in the UK last month was the first
one when DVD players outsold VCRs) and porno (again) is the first to
take advantage of some of the DVD only features such as multi-angle
scenes.

DVD movies do NOT have Macrovision(tm) copy protection. DVD *PLAYERS*
add the Macrovision(tm) encoding to the signal coming out of your player
when you play the DVD movie in the player.
A very few DVD players have the ability to disable Macrovision(tm) (via
hack codes).
Personally I don't mind DVD's taking over. I was sick and tired of
renting movies on tape and have the tape occasionally get gobbled by my
VCR or, my favorite, have to hope the tape tracks properly. DVD's are
smaller and store better and don't degrade with multiple plays. If you
rent a crappy tape it can damage your equipment. A crummy DVD can be
cleaned easily.
For ye who don't want to purchase DVD's, most places have rent then
purchase (where cost of rental is taken out of the purchase price if you
decide to buy) and you can rent DVD's online and purchase if you like
them (XRentDVD for example). If you don't like the movie, return it and
you aren't out major bucks.

on my computer, and rip the outstanding scenes I wanna watch frequently onto the
hard drive for later viewing. With a P4 1.5ghz PC it doesn't take that long, I
was doing this with VHS tapes but older films deteriorate and get damaged easily.
So I too have started converting over to DVD, I was convinced after renting a
couple of faulty VHS tapes recently.
I am buying them to have a permanent copy for keeps but saving them to the HD
just so they accessible anytime I want to watch a certain scene. I have video out
from the computer to my TV in the living room with a surround sound system, works
awesome. and since the computer is in the bedroom I can watch them there too. ;)
I also have found some good vendors selling anabolic/diabolic titles for less
than $20, so its getting where DVD's are even cheaper than the VHS tapes! Its
much better quality video and sound and no copy protection that can't be easily
beaten!

This is PARTLY true. While the DVD player actually adds the Macrovision
copy protection to the signal, there is an indicator on the disc itself that
tells the DVD player to do so (as well as what level of Macrovision to
apply).
The disc manufacturer must pay a royalty to Macrovision in order to activate
this copy protection. If the indicator is not turned on on the DVD itself,
there will be no copy protection in the signal produced by the DVD player.
Aside from one might think about copy protection, this is actually a pretty
intelligent way to manage this process. Since the copy protection process
is stored in the DVD player, minimal disc space is taken up to apply it.

Except for one thing: you just have to disable Macrovision once, in
the DVD player, and there you go. Not so easy with some DVD players,
but there's a crack for most of them already.

I only but Porn on DVD now; The problem with that is that the local porn
stores here offer new and older releases (usually series) at 39.99, and
some budget titles at 19.99. But I'm not gonna pay 40 bux for Little
White Chicks, Big Black Monster Dicks #10, which is exactly hat they
expect. I'll be increasing my Porn buying over the net as a result. One
has to wonder why the markup...
