a) Apprently it was very well received at Cannes
b) The "fat superhero" ads for The Incredibles were awful. The movie was great
c) The "UP" ads I've seen are actually pretty good.

Don't forget the raincoat and dark glasses.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Cartoons are for kids, so anything animated _must_
mean that grownups in the audience are only in attendance to chaperon
children. Old shtick, your pedophile baiting doesn't work, nutjob.
In the immortal words of the compound group Parliament/Funkadelic;

Just saw "UP". Very much a movie for grownups perhaps even
more than kids, very poignant.
True. Being Richard Anderson, now THAT'S a valid reason to have to go
out wearing a trenchcoat and sunglasses to hide the shame.

My son took his kid to it, and he just told me that parts of it were
just to emotionally mature for the kids to get. He heard a couple of
kids asking the adults, "Where did the woman go?" They didn't
understand that she had died. I'm hoping it does well, so studios will
be encouraged to make more of this sort of thing.

I agree; I'm a big fan of movies that befuddle kids.

But the kids will love Dug the dog and Kevin the bird, so it will all
balance out.

I thought the dogs were hilarious. They had, of course, the scene with
dogs playing poker, which was expected, but funny. I think I was the
only one to get it at the end when the old man and the kids were
sitting on the street spotting cars with certain colors and the dog
chimes in one "grey one!" Funny. Lots of little inside things like
that most little kids wouldn't get. Good overall adult theme, too,
realizing your dreams, letting things go, and ultimately knowing what
is really important in life. Interesting that they had an Asian voice
actor playing the kid, too, who looked kind of Asian, but didn't sound
like it.
...But they showed the trailer to that too, since we're getting that in
December. :)
