If I can belatedly jump in on this I saw "Knowing" just last week. It
was fun to watch and I agree that the message- sending in that film
was way too unreliable for it to be credible (if that's what you
meant). While I agree that it isn't the smartest of sf films, it never
broke into silliness or stupidity. I don't pretend to be a sf maven

Given that the post came from KalElFan, my guess is that it was
crossposted to rec.arts.sf.tv because Cameron's movies have been on TV,
this one is SF and will be on TV one day, and KalElFan is an asshat.

One thing I appreciate is that the 3D effect was abused. I don't appreciate
having shit thrown at me in a movie and Avatar did none of that. A preview for a
Depp movie, Alice in Wonderland, did just that; I won't see it in 3D.

It's bad enough we have to suffer with commercials, but do they HAVE
to show them using DVD-quality DLP projectors? You feel like you're
going blind watching them, especially if you have to sit through 10 of
them in a row. Time to step up the quality to Blu-ray (or something

Peter Jackson's the producer, so there's hope for at least some
maverick sensibility. Meanwhile, I'd add a third (albeit more

Opinions vary. I don't bother to go to a movie theater often, but I
went to see this and enjoyed it hugely. I didn't think "cgi", I just
