Is new Google Groups all we have now?

My former ways of getting into the old Google Groups
no longer work, and as near as I can tell we are stuck
with the new version now. If so, it's a shame because
the new one hasn't been improved during the time that
both were available.

If anyone knows a way to access the old version, please
share. Thanks.

I'm still able to access the old version after going through the usual
hoops.

That's good to know. When I go through the ususal
hoops I get to the old 'my groups' display, but choosing
one throws me into the new version. I'll keep working
on it.

No, you can get a real newsreader and access Usenet like an adult.

Still on the old ones. The new edition (from when I tried it probably
a year ago) has issues.

Few that there are, fewer still being updated, most dead, like with
providers of access to them.

This is 2013. It's all about ease of access. Attacking people for
going the easy route is a relic of the 1990s.

Glad to, if there's a free one that's easy to set up.
The last time I tried, 2 or 3 years ago, guided by
someone here, it was insanely difficult to set up,
and I gave up after a while. GG is simple to
access and use, except that the optional new
version sucks. I'm back on the old one now, by
the way, and have never understood what is supposed
to be wrong with it, especially now when posts show up
immediately, as they didn't used to do.

I am accessing this newsgroup (and others) via Thunderbird - a free
Mozilla email client. It is not a 'real newsreader' but more than
adequate for the purpose.

It doesn't suck as bad on mobile devices, which is probably what
Google is more concerned about at this point.

I'm a little surprised at how badly Google's Android OS has kicked the
ass of Apple's iOS.
