Of all of these, I've only seen Vanilla Sky. Cruz wasn't
bad. She played winsome. She's got lovely big eyes and plays
winsome well.

I agree with you on that one. She did well in Vanilla Sky and even in Blow.
I think the reason that she was nominated for mandolin was down to the fact
that the film was so shite it had to get a mention somewhere. My personal
opinions as to who deserves the awards are as follows:

they couldn't flog THAT old gag again...)

What is Pearl Harbor a remake of? Tora Tora Tora? From Here to Eternity? I
saw the movie and I agree that it isn't any good. However, it hardly is a
sequel or remake by any means. I guess the people nominating the films are
just as ignorant as the movie producers making most of the movies on their
lists.

Do the same assholes do the awards every year? You gotta wonder how
they do it without getting bored and ashamed of themselves. It's like
these people that dress up and do Rocky Horror every fucking week. Or
somebody that runs a web sight devoted to Gilmore Girls. It's gotta
get old fast.
I mean I'm sure it seemed funny when they first made it up. What if we
made awards for the BAD movies? Ha ha ha. How cynical. How biting.
Weird Al Yankelvic seemed funny at the time too. And gallagher, and
that one russian dude.
I mean, I doubt they saw any of these movies. And I doubt they were
even released when they chose the nominees. You could easily have
predicted these going through the entertainment weekly movie preview
with a marker. Which is probaly what they do. Even Derek can predict
these. Steve fucking Carras could predict these.
Fuck the golden raspberries. And not in a loving, consensual way.

I don't think JURASSIC PARK III belongs on that list, it was OK, in fact,
far superior to the Speilberg-directed THE LOST WORLD.

Am I right in assuming you enjoyed Pearl Harbor too then? It too had great
special effects and a great cast.
I would assume that it's going to be "Freddy Got Fingered" seeings
that just about every critic nominated this film for the Worst Film of
2001. However, I wouldn't count out "Glitter" or "Pearl Harbor" just
yet either.
> Worst Actor
This one is a little tougher. We were subjected to horrible acting and
dialogue in "Pearl Harbor"...but Kevin Costner is always a good target
for making bad movies, Tom Green of course is associated with "Freddy
Got Fingered," Keanu Reeves has been a shoe-in for years, and John
Travolta is in another serious slump with "Battlefield Earth," "Lucky
Numbers," "Swordfish," and "Domestic Disturbance" all doing very
poorly with audience reactions. I won't be suprised when the winner is
announced.
> Worst Actres
Mariah Carey hands down. I haven't seen "Glitter" and really don't
care to, but the press was waiting for this one and all the rage was
about how bad this film was and how terrible of a career move it was
for Carey. While others may have ripped up the films each nominee was
nominated for, no one got the same amount of bad press for them like
Mariah did.
> Worst Screen Couple
Here's another tough call: they were all so bad that it's probably
going be hard for the people at the Golden Raspberries to choose!
> Worst Supporting Actor
I think nominating Charlton Heston for the underrated "Cats & Dogs" is
ridiculous. I'm thinking that Sylvestor Stallone ("Driven") might go
home with this award though.
> Worst Supporting Actress
I'd imagine one of the "Freddy Got Fingered" gals (Drew Barrymore or
Estella Warren) is going to take the fall for this one.
> Worst Remake or Sequel
They better re-think this one a little more. First off, like another
poster already pointed out "Jurassic Park III" is not that bad. Yeah,
it's mediocre alright and the ending is terrible, but I still think
it's superior to the ignorant "Lost World." And "Pearl Harbor" is not
a remake either. I would like to think that either "Crocodile Dundee
in Los Angeles" or "Sweet November" will take home the award.
> Worst Director
I think it'll come down to Michael Bay ("Pearl Harbor"), Tom Green
("Freddy Got Fingered"), and Vondie Curtis Hall ("Glitter").
> Worst Screenplay
I've only seen one of the nominees and probably will never see any of
the others (especially "Freddy Got Fingered"), but I am hoping that it
is Green's film based on what I've heard about it from several
different friends that were all offended by it. Apparently Tom Green
thinks child molestation is a funny closeline for a film? I have seen
"Pearl Harbor" and I'm glad it was at least nominated--what a poorly
written script with a lot of bad dialogue!
what was sweet november a sequel to?

"Sweet November" is a remake of a Sandy Dennis film from 1968. I
learned this awhile back when I was reading one of the reviews for the
film. I've also heard that it has never been released on VHS/DVD. Oh
well...
Sweet October (*rim shot*)!
I have come full circle. Derek's and Vern's cynicism about cynicism is
funnier than the orignal cynicism.
Did I spell cynicism correctly? Look at something long enough and you
start getting...well..cynical.

I thought Freddy Got Fingered ruled the planet - although it offended /way/
too many people /way/ too deeply for anyone's own good. Town & Country I
found to be a fun movie too. :) Hell, I even enjoyed Pearl Harbor.
Never saw Glitter (the reviews of this movie on imdb are hilarious).
Never saw Driven, although while I was there, Hollywood's Chinese Theatre
sure was pimping the film like it was the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Poor Sly Stallone.
Planet of The Apes wasn't a real good movie, but it certainly wasn't that
bad. If you ever chose /anything/ over 3k Miles To Graceland, you never saw
that film. Consider yourselves lucky, as I paid full price for it (ouch!).

Were you held at gunpoint or did you go see these films voluntarily?
I knew from the trailers that "Freddy Got Fingered" and "Glitter" were the
worst movies of the year. The reviews just clinched it. You think I'm as
much a masochist to actually watch them?
(I'm unhappy to admit I saw both "Driven" and "Planet of the Apes". Blah.)
