TRUCKER is the sort of indie role that actors must find
irresistible ...and, true enough, 90 minutes of Michelle Monaghan's
ultra-feisty wagon jockey could never be all bad. (But a note to all
'tomboys': practice before throwing a baseball on-screen.) With its
appealing ambience, setup, and cast ...I wanted to like this movie
even more than I did. But the script's structural flaw is that
Monaghan's title character -- a supposed maverick of the highest order
-- behaves so conventionally during our drama that I couldn't manage
to connect her with her stark backstory, and thus couldn't escape an
ongoing whiff of contrivance. Still, for its novelty and for folks I
liked watching, TRUCKER is mostly recommended.

trucker's overdose of long faces and cupcakes, troublesomely tiresome
as it is, is absolutely bollocks.

Well, I can't translate a mere "overdose of long faces" (e.g., DARK
CITY) into "absolute bollocks". (Perhaps if I understood
"cupcakes"...) So, although I'm willing to hear how TRUCKER gets a
flat, you haven't nailed it for me yet.

it was just the humongous feeling of deja vu, predictability, another
crypto lesbo getting maternal story, a very annoying kid, all around
unappealing

Well, I liked watching a lithe hottie-in-the-rough wrangling an 18
wheeler. And, although 'crypto lesbo' is allowable as abuse, it's of
course completely inaccurate. Still, I'll allow that we saw the same
movie, even if your view was only half-full...

not at all, double standard need not apply when the homoerotic tag is
hurled about at the slightest hint of not spending time with beaver,
like sports. its something more than their dresses the ladies in sex
in the city are in love with
