I just saw Avatar in 2d. I live in a small town and 3d doesn't come here
until next year. Even in 2d the effects were nothing short of spectacular!
The film was slightly over-sentimental and reminded me of the film The
Mission, in which De Nero goes native. Both Avatar and The Mission were
visually stunning.

My initial reaction of the film was that from now on, I have to channel my
money into The Anglo American Mining corporation:)

But seriously, I don't see the film as left wing in spite of this irony.
Supporting indians is a bipartisan issue. John Wayne supported indians. Many
good republicans support national parks etc.

Well, 'Avatar' is brought to you by a studio whose parent company
happens to be the same that owns Fox News. And that's no irony !

Money overrides everything. Which is why Al Gore decided to become a
billionaire off the backs of everyone in the Western world, as opposed to
"saving the planet."
