The animated sci-fi adventure, 9, delivers lovely post-apocalypse
graphics and ambience ...but comes up remarkably short in the art of
satisfying narrative. (Though more adult-oriented, the last movie I
judged similarly was THE FIFTH ELEMENT.) Meanwhile, parents should
note that 9's 'PG-13' rating means it's definitely scary for little
kids. Somewhat recommended.

Well, if you criticize a movie without having actually seen it, you're
of course typing with one hand over your eyes. But I'd agree that the
majority of this movie's value might well be gotten via a lengthy
trailer. (Meanwhile, except for good visuals, 9 has little in common
with the engaging DISTRICT 9. Also, I'd need to greatly rework my
definition of 'crap' to make it coexist with 'considerably cool'...)

plot
