I'm looking for a digital (hypertext-based?) encyclopedia on art-history
for a big WWW-project in The Netherlands ("Holland Art Country").
Does anyone know if it exist or if people are working on such
projects (commercial or non-commercial).
Thanks,

Hi There Y'all,
If you are referring to online references, there is a mixed-bag
of stuff available on World Wide Web and via other internet
resources from various academic sites. Many of the academic
sites do NOT offer access to just anyone--reserving their database
for student/faculty accounts.
Commercially, there are a variety of art-related programs
already published on CD's (CDRom), and more being published
all the time. I haven't seen a truly comprehensive Art History
course offered, but I'll bet there is one out there somewhere.
The COREL Library of graphic images offers a large array of
stuff in all genres.

I don't know if this qualifies, but there is a videodisc on the "National
Gallery Of Art" which has a very good presentation on the history of art
on one side and a library of around 1,500 images on the other.
