Orb of Madison Scout on the left: You'd better take care of this drum man!

I wish..... About double that after tax, shipping, and drumheads. I
will take really good care if this one!

Armed with this information I offer a caption: "When you have more
money than good sense, you buy one of these." ;-)

Whose else, other than Miss Over-anal-eyes, would have even noticed?

I just realized what Jackie was talking about! the little orb on the
top left of the photo.

I was actually a little pissed when I opened the box. This was one of
the extra snares Yamaha made for the Scouts in 2005 for their 20th
anniversary with Yamaha. They had a little custom badge under the
front vent hole with the Scouts logo on it and I was told this drum
also had it. It was not on the Shell when I opened the box. I
contacted the Yamaha rep (Former Cavie) and he said they added them
later and he had some left. He's mailing one to me. I also kind of
expected it to have drumheads. Turns out the regular Yamaha snares do
come with heads but since this was a custom drum made for a corps they
didn't bother adding heads. The corps would just toss them since they
all have their own sponsorships with drumhead manufacturers. I got
lucky that the local music shop up the street had a Remo Kevlar batter
head and the mylar head for the bottom. Interestingly enough - this
drum is made of Maple - not Birch like their stock snares. Turns out
drum corps tend to like the sound of Maple better than birch so every
Yamaha line in DCI is actually playing on Maple drums. I didn't know
this.

Anyway - I spent WAY too much $$ on this but at least I no longer have
a wife to bitch at me for it!!!! I like being the boss.

I'd be glad to bitch at you anytime if need be. ;-)

Since Yamaha is following me on Twitter, *looking around to see if
they're here*, they've got a lot of nerve sending it without the Madison
Medallion in the first place, what are they high?

Actually I think he's busy. He's one of two reps that take care of the
DCI lines during the season.
