The DCI Board of Directors is making a recommendation to the DCI voting
membership, to be voted on at the January annual meeting, that Teal
Sound be given access to the world class schedule. It has happened!!! I
want to thank EVERYONE that has been a part of this journey! Best, Mike
Steiner

Another corps for Pioneer to beat!

...maybe, but Teal has been putting out a decent product for the last
few years and with the status elevation should recruit better...their
culture is pretty cool...

So much for the product.

Well... there isn't a product. Not called drum and bugle corps.
Anyway.

Sharon

PS: Elevating a particular group that calls themselves a drum and
bugle corps doesn't further drum and bugle corps.

Teal Sound used to be one of my favorites, but not anymore. This year's
show, the guitar band in front, and the band announcer, was one of the
worst things I've ever seen in "drum corps". This one just goes to
prove some people's point that Open Class is just a training ground. No
representation on the DCI board and a perennial win for Blue Devils B
and Santa Clara B since there's no initiative for them to move to World
Class.

Surely you don't mean this past year, Charlie, that was agonizing.

Yes, it was awful.

I would have been less surprised if I heard they were going BOA!

...I didn't see 'em this past year...if it was what you guys are
sayin'...well...nuts. When Impulse was Div II (last in '05 with a
pretty rockin' corps) the two groups got along great and I came to
appreciate Teal, they ground-out a 60 day tour that year and ended up
squeeking-by us at nats. I dunno, tho, what you guys are describing
is BS, I agree...

Yup~! One year I got up early in the morning to race to Clifton to see
them and their show. I had Lyme Disease and had to lie down on the
bleachers to see them and when they came off the field they all
collapsed on the ground and fell asleep themselves. I've really liked
them for a long time, but this year, they lost it!

I saw Teal in 2005 at the Houston show and I was very impressed.
Fortunately I did not see the 2009 show.

I saw them in 2007 at the Houston show. Also impressed. Nice mello
sound.

Here's a little of what you missed:

This doesn't give you the amped voice though, tsk tsk. They also got
rid of the little stage for the guitars and drumset and the Velvet Ropes
on the field that the kids tripped over. Two improvements as far as I'm
concerned.
