Just a disclaimer but Urazawa's Monster doesn't have any scary monster in it
so this is no Pacific Rim. He has done quite a few "Japanese in Europe
teaching people how much better they are" sort of stories starting from
Pineapple Army, Master Keaton, and then Monster.

Monster is about a Japanese surgeon who must track down a killer, a killer
that he once saved and now deeply regrets.

He also managed to do two sports manga where the main characters are girls
in Happy! and Yawara that were highly popular as well.

After 20th Century Boys wrapped up I think he's doing another mystery story
called Billy Bat. I read the first two volume but have no ideas where he's
going with this.

Also, I recall seeing the cartoon on SyFy Channel several years ago. It's
very much a human-interest story and quite decompressed and tedious. I also
have the entire manga series.
