Someone mentioned to me that Google Groups was doing a better job with the spam, so I've been keeping an eye on the newsgroups the last couple days. The intfiction forums are great and all, but I can't say I don't miss the hopping r*if days. In any case, I think I'm going to be back here for a while.
There are a lot of great reasons to use the popular systems out there today like Inform 7 and TADS 3 (and any others I didn't mention). That said, I personally am still happy with my choice of Hugo and would recommend it to anyone who is unsure which IF system calls out to them. It is just code-y enough for someone like me to see what it is doing without going too far into hardcore-coder-land. Of course, that's up to personal preference, but I still encourage people to check it out.
We have improved Hugo documentation a lot with the creation of the site Hugo by Example (
http://hugo.gerynarsabode.org/index.php?title=Main_Page) and continue to answer questions over at Robb Sherwin's joltcountry forum (
http://www.joltcountry.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=8). I'd be happy to answer questions here as well, now that I'm paying attention.
Kent Tessman has been busy working on a new baby, a screenwriting program called Fade In (
http://www.fadeinpro.com/). I'd recommend it to all aspiring screenwriters out there. That said, I know he'd like to return to Hugo one day, so it is definitely not a dead language.
Anyhow, just glad to see that people are still kicking it here. Keep up the good work, raif.
