I've been enjoying playing Anchorhead. I was a big fan of the old
Infocom games and this one comes closer than any other I've seen to
approaching a similar experience.

I'm stuck as far as getting past the orderly and into the asylum.

So far, the game has seemed to nudge me along, rewarding me by
advancing the story after I perform certain actions but now I just
find myself wandering around the environment aimlessly.

I've opened the safe, been to the observatory with the black disk,
gotten past the winery, been in the church and sewers, been to the top
of the lighthouse, survived the encounter at the slaughterhouse,
gotten into the mill (needed help on this one too. Don't think it was
totally fair to have to perform a specific action on something
presented as scenery), I've researched the birth/death records, I've
opned the door in the attic, I've been into the crypt and gotten the
artifact from one of the coffins, I (finally) got the copper key from
the doctor, I've hacked into Michael's laptop...so now it seems the
next place I need to get past is the asylum waiting room. I assume the
large door in the depths of the cellar gets opened later in the story
but maybe I'm wrong.

I've shown/asked the guard every item in my inventory. He mentions a
professor who ate his own foot but when I try to ask him about it, the
program just asks "which professor- Michael's job or the professor?"
When I specify "the professor" it just keeps asking that same
question.

Could someone please give me a hint (a subtle nudge at first maybe) so
I can figure out how to get into the asylum?

I also still haven't figured out where to play the flute but that can
wait for another day maybe.

Thanks.

This was hard for me too. The game took a sudden turn from Lovecraft to
King here for reasons I never really understood.

I seem to recall that it was getting OUT that was the problem. IN just
kinda happened, I think. Unless you've made it to Day Four without
getting in, don't worry about it yet.

I'm still on day 3 which I assumed was the last day but I guess I'm
wrong.

The game won't let me go to sleep yet, though, and I'm at a loss as to
what should be done next. Thanks, anyway.

I'm stuck, meaning I don't know what/where else to explore.

I apologize if my original post was unclear on this point.

Does anyone have a list of tasks that are to be accomplished on day 3?
Thanks.

I figured out where to play the flute. I just hope I haven't done it
prematurely since it didn;t earn me any points. It did seem to
progress the story though, as I have now been tossed into the asylum.

Just to be sure, you do know that there are solutions for Anchorhead on
the web? IFDB links to two: one simple walkthrough, and one more
elaborate one:

Kind regards,
