I'll give him ten of the eleven . . . but The Entity? Since it was
released during his cocaine years maybe he remembers it differently
than I do.
I've queued it (and ISLE OF THE DEAD), and will be pleased to
pontificate.
In the same vein... I remember Romero's NotLD as a horror revelation
when I first saw it. Yet, last night's semi-soap, 'Medium', centered
around a parody of it, with very young kids sitting with Dad enjoying
the original. I guess today's kids will always be more sophisticated
than yesterday's... but, what about, I wonder...

I notice that he did not list THE FUNHOUSE.

On the question of playing continuo during a Mozart concerto, I can only
reaffirm my belief that it is perfectly fine as long as it is inaudible.

You mean you still haven't bought the Val Lewton box set?!
You know, I remember seeing and being more frightened by what I didn't
see, which from his list seems to be major point for him. It's what
your mind 'makes up' while watching.
I also remember being more frightened by the book, but that's
understandable (to me anyway).
I don't own DVDs... (partly for fear they'll return the favor...)
Maybe because Bava's Halloween-best is BLACK SUNDAY, which although
wonderful (and certainly on *my* list), is full of bad acting and
clinkers...

I think Bava's best is LISA E IL DIAVOLO, but I accept that apart from
Bava himself, I am probably in A MINORITY OF ONE about that.

I'm astonished I've never even heard of it... now queued...
Nothing like remembering good stories with a happy ending -- The real
Carla Moran is still living today in Texas with her children. The
attacks through decreased in both frequency and intensity continue.

Let us know what you make of it. It's the quintessential "film of
images", and admittedly HARD WORK the first time you watch it. But it's
pure, uncompromised Bava and worth your time. Also worth reading up on
the background to how it got made and what happened after it did, but
save that until you've seen it, lest you stumble on a spoiler.
