Brighten the Day
Songs to Celebrate the Seasons
Marty Layne is a talented musician, author, speaker and homeschooling mother
who set aside time to create some inspirational music to help our children
appreciate the cycles of nature. Marty recently shared the following with
us:
Brighten the Day is a delightful collection of songs about the natural
world and the rhythm of the seasons which will have you and your children
singing along. It's perfect for both home and school use, great for car
trips and a fun way to help children become aware of things like the
changing seasons in song format. The CD comes with a 12-page booklet with
all the words. 41 minutes of voice and acoustic guitar.
There is something so life affirming about the changing of the seasons: the
never-ending pattern of birth, growth, harvest and rest to be repeated again
and again. I tried to describe that cycle with the songs I choose for this
recording. I hope that you enjoy them and that they help renew your spirit."

Classical Musical Offerings
Masterworks for Harp is Josh Layne's most recent recording of solo harp
music. The first two pieces on the CD (the Bach and the Rodrigo) are Josh's
own transcriptions. They are followed by American composer Michael Mauldin's
Birds in Winter and Canadian composer Marjan Mozetich's Songs of Nymphs.

Recorded in 1996, A Harp Recital is Josh Layne's first CD. It features a mix
of music from many periods, including two Spanish pieces, and the ever popular
Moldau (in a marvelous arrangement for solo harp by Hans Trnecek).

Easy Duets for Beginners is a great introduction to reading and performing
music via an easy and inexpensive wind instrument. The songs use only the
nine easiest notes but because of the extensive use of duets and trios the
interest is high. The Nine-Note Recorder Method has been used in many home
and school settings. Visit http://members.aol.com/PG9Note/lessonplans.html

In My Grandmother's Garden
MusicKit is introducing a new kind of children's literature this
season. The company's first published book, In My Grandmother's
Garden, proves to be an engaging, true story told from the point
of view of a young girl, Aubyn. One fine day Aubyn and her
grandmother paint watercolors of flowers in grandmother's
garden by the San Francisco Bay. Their paintings create
memories that last, and give comfort and solace even when Grandfather dies.
The story is told through song with musical notes and words
printed large enough to encourage children to read along. A
CD accompanies the book with the song sung by noted Berkeley,
CA, folk-singer, Laurie Lewis. Visit
