Did anyone see the BBCtv show where a famous face
is asked to sit for three invited artists, and viewers
can see the works in progress, and finally the finished
works are presented to the sitter who comments on them
and chooses a favourite?

Rolf Harris is the presenter and the sitter was "Parkinson"
a tv presenter in UK.

One work was photo-realistic, another was a traditional oil
work, and there was the third one, which did not try to present
a technically correct face, and the finish was rough, and of no
obvious expression to me.

It was a change to see three such obviously different works
displayed together.

For my own taste, I found the photo-realistic work too concerned
with detail, and lacking the expected 3-dimensionalism that the
traditional oil portrait had, and the non-realistic work did not
achieve anything notable.

Good show.

And still he chose that one because in the end he wondered what would
fit best in his house :-)

Never mind, he was forced to chose, and an audience, possibly composed
of people who do not necessarily look at art in a critical way were
following,
and perhaps they had different opinions.
I hope so.
A tiny step upward for art?

Was it on in the US? Sounds interesting.
