can't remember artist name-- any help!?

I saw a series of paintings in a gallery a few years back, and for the
life of me I can't remember the name of the artist. I remember the
subject of a couple of paintings had men working on huge insects--
like the insects were huge machines being built by the men. I kinda
remember a russian sounding name also-- but i hate to say that, cuz
i'm probably misremembering. I remember them being vivid, beautifully
detailed pieces (i saw them in a gallery at the aladdin in vegas).
Does anyone know the artist I'm talking about? I'd be eternally
grateful if you had any ideas!? know any other places I could ask?
